So, when do you think Gina really got to shine? S9 or S10?

I can't remember too much from both seasons, lol, but I think it was S10...S9 felt like most of her screentime was about hiding her envy for Donna/Kelly and trying to get closer to Dylan (although I gotta say that the scene where she brings drugs for him at jail and tells him "I hate you" is really powerful). The long lost sister plot, as cheesy and ridiculous as I found it, allowed her to show more layers, imo, especially in the episode where she bonds with her dad and everything that came after he dies.

That's pretty much exactly what I'd say, lol.

I think this went on for way, way too long. It would have been nice if her pent up frustration for Donna came out sooner, they dealt with it, and this in turn changed her relationships with Kelly, Dylan, and advanced the David/Gina romance before S10. God ... and thinking of all the women he dated in S9 after breaking up with Donna in S8, it would have been so much more interesting if Donna's cousin were the one to be next and cause tension. They seemed to need someone to play the "Valerie S5" role for Dylan again.

season 9 definitely. she was introduced and had issues just like any other person but we found out her issues were really, really deep. kinda like Vals but not as extreme. I dont think Gina was like how Val was to Dylan in S5 because he actually proved to genuinely care about her by the end of the season with his jealous antics and i think he even wanted to talk to Kelly about how he really felt for Gina before Kelly was raped. i think thats why they ended the season together. purposely. and it caused a little drama with David.

What do you think he wanted to tell Gina? Why do you think he was drawn to her?

I didn't like how they made her into a low-rent version of Val in general. I wish they would've made Gina more original, but given the quality of the show then, I'm not surprised.

i think he was definitely drawn to her. he said at the end of season 9 that he felt like she deserved better. he said she should move on because he was afraid to hurt her anymore and then right after he seen David/Gina he calls Kelly and tells her he might relapse. IMO the season 9/10 triangle is so much more confusing than the season 3/4 one because we can actually say that his heart belonged with Brenda. im honestly not sure who would have had Dylan's heart if Vanessa stayed.

and i thought Gina was original IMO. she was different than Val she just had the same self destructive behavior. Val was molested/raped and had issues from it (smoked pot/slept around) but she was the "kool" underdog. but Gina never felt good enough and felt like she had no control over her life which was perfect because she was always envious and wanted what Donna had, until she met Dylan, but then Kelly throws it in her face about her and Dylan's past and causes Gina's bulimia to reveal itself from her past. i loved season 9 a lot more than 8.

She's 41 and she's still the most beautiful girl of the world (well, with others of course) but I'm so in love with Vanessa 's natural beauty, with her smile, her laugh, her way of acting... and Gina is my all time favorite character for her. Because even if she can be a b**** she's so moving and cute and especially with Dylan. She's super funny and a very interesting character.

Val was one of my fav too but I don't see Gina like a kind of copy of Valerie. They both were different and interesting characters.

I wish Vanessa came back for Donna and David 's wedding! I would have love Dylan to choose her instead of Kelly lol. They could have danced like they did at the prom bal they went too AWW what a cute moment.

Anyway, I miss Gina!! my fav season for her was 9 but I also love the 10th season because I LOVE the end with the Donna/Gina sibling revelry thing...and Dylan, at the beginning of the 10 season definitely gave a chance to his relationship with Gina...he was more respectful than in season 9 but they had some of my favorite scenes in season 9.

I hope Vanessa won't appear in the 90210 because I don't really like it...and in my own mind, she's now living with dylan somewhere

Don't worry about the double post. I merged them, keeping the longer message.

You think Dylan calmed her sense of envy and lack of control over her life?

That was a great moment, someone finally coming around for her, unexpectedly. It was so easy for Gina to get wistful and teary-eyed, despite her scheming actions. She clearly wanted to feel needed by others (also, as per her story about her overweight relative while waiting on Dylan in the hospital).

Well, she didn't beat around the bush. Thinking of any moments in particular?

well i am not the one you're quoting but i would like to replay.
I don' think that Gina was so very envy to what Donna have, i just think that Gina was envy on that her cousine had a real life, cause i know from my own experience that the professional sportists do not have a casual life like others. And when she found Dylan even if he was a total rebel it was smth hers, something what she wanted and there is one more very simple explanation....when a woman is in love she finds that tere is smth to live for and become a better person or smth like that

Whoa, blast from the past. I so wish you and Marie could've been on together, lol. You two are the biggest Gina fans I know (plus one other YT vidder).

I know what you're saying. And then things got even more complicated when it was not only that Donna had the privilege of a casual, normal life with friends and all, but also the father that was really both of theirs. I think Gina also always wanted a relationship with her cousin too, and resents that not happening until S9.

And yeah, Dylan. Love and romance is a key way to incorporate some normalcy and stability into an otherwise hectic life. Or not so much 'stability', since it can be difficult and volatile, but, like you said, it's her unique thing to figure out. No interference/decision-making from Bobbi or coaches.

Well, thank you for your greeting and for remembering me)))
I will try to be on here to meet Maria and you. It is 8.50 p.m in Moscow right now, but i have spring insomnia so may be we'll got a chance to chat and have a proper discussion.firs about Vanessa.I really adore and respect her, i can admit that i have"stolen" her haircut anmd style)))) She is amazing woman and gorgeous one. And a lot of what we like in Gina is huge thanks to Vanessa.
About Gina and her acttions. Once i thought that she is just a rebel with out a cause person, just like Dylan. But then i remebered that she was a prof. sportist in the past (which i was forgotten cause i was very busy to try to understand Dylans feelings for her). And you know what there is no way to say that she is EX spottist, cause this people never became EX in their attityudes and reaction. We are kind of tough persons, strigt and very very stubborn. It seems that she made a lot of mistakes, but it is just because she is so different from anothers. She is taking life in all its aspects as a buttlefield, so this is the only way she knew how to act, the only way how she could act. In every thing....in relationships, in work, in feelings

I guess Dylan did understand her, rember when she came to a garage with beer tj thank him and he told her about this is not the only way how to get a guy attention???

Oh, but I thought he had tons of causes. I didn't consider her too rebellious really, just vindictive if you cross her. Bit of a love for mischief.

This makes sense with how you describe the mentality of a professional athlete. I just wish the show emphasized these roots a little more, then. I don't know. Is that fair to say? She did train and collapse in the skating rink, coached the little boy, tried to get gigs/talked of industry people, but ... oh, you know what it is? Not a lot of the other characters seemed to apply this context. David and Dylan were the only ones trying to understand her. Maybe Matt.

Yes. I wish I could watch it again right now to know I'm discussing it right, but he was very keen on the fact that she wanted to hook up. He could sense a certain neediness. And with the self-impression he had at the time, it was like he thought it was part of a bad habit of hers and he could easily become part of it.
