guess this pic sums it up. we are leaving eagle’s watch today. we’ve spent the last few months recording in a house called eagle’s watch in malibu. we put all our gear into the place and built a studio out of an awesome house. studios generally don’t have windows. it’s been incredible to work in a place overlooking the sea every day. we’re now moving into a proper studio with (every studio’s standard issue…) no windows. we’ll miss eagle’s watch. we filmed a lot in there so it’ll be on one of the versions of the album (no doubt it’ll say deluxe but i swear to god we’ll put so much awesome stuff in there it’ll make it deluxe).

two days ago i sat on the balcony and wrote. this is what it looked like. i guess you just have to cgi me into the chair. if you want to do it right i was fretting. trying to write words. so yes, fretting….

love and not the eagles i saw the other day carrying a rat in it’s talons. different eagles. good ones.xx

As we announced back in November Snow Patrol are set to play the legendary Rock in Rio Festival on September 24th alongside headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers.

myself and jonny - today - azteca stadium - mexico city

the shows start tomorrow but we went in today as U2 very kindly set aside a room backstage for us to rehearse all day. it’s just as well as we haven’t played the old songs in about a year. sounded good though. we’ve only played once before in mexico and that was to a lot less people than 100,000. 98,000 less to be exact. we’re all so excited it’s rather sweet. we were sitting at the bar an hour ago and the table was vibrating we were all buzzing so much. nice to be reminded our passion hasn’t diminished not one jot after all these years.

the reason i seem to be scowling in the picture is that it was 80 degrees today and the sun, at this juncture, was lazered right into my eye-holes. jonny played it right with the shades.

more pictures to come but this is what it all looks like the day before: empty yet humming with promise.

so, once more dear friends onto the U2 spaceship to rejoin the greatest tour there ever was. colour me tickled pink!
