Snow Patrol Concert Experiences #1 ~ Could they make their concerts go on forever?

I have never been to a concert of Snow Patrol, I'd love to though some day.. But I was wondering if anyone here ever did and what you thought of them?

I'm sure they're great live performers.

Sorry for the sucky title btw.. If anybody knows something better, let me know (or the mods!)

I'll try to remember to come back in here on Saturday. I'm going to see the SP tomorrow night.

I posted this in the music thread but here it is again...

IT'S WAS AMAZING! They sang every single song i wanted them too! Gary Lightbody is the soooo funny and sweet. He was saying how the night before they were in Sydney and one of the roadies was standing with them in the street and some guy came up to them and put the roadie in a headlock and said "Give me all your money!" and the roadie said no so he asked again and the roadie said "no i don't have any money". The guy took the roadie out of a headlock and poitned to Snow Patrol and said "errr do you guys have any money?" gary said "no" and the guy went "oh okay see you". And he said that why he likes Australia because even our robbers are nice. lol

He said it was really hot which is was and he lifted his shirt up a few times and said they were going to be like the red hot chilli peppers and perform in their underwear and everyone cheered. He also said they want to come back here again to swimming witht he great white sharks. Her laughed and said he finds it funny that people push to the front in the mosh and end up staring at him and it's scary so he dedicated "Chasing Cars" to the scary looking mosh people and that we should kiss the people next to you during the sogns but ask their permission first. His accent was gorgeous. Gary said we should be happy that we go to hear Set The Fire To The Third Bar because they had a Melbourne singer with him singing it and they don't perform it often because they don't have a girl singer and also that when he lost his voice last years it was because he was singing Hands Open.

After the concert i waited outside and these girls walked past they had just hugged some of the band members because i didn't reliese i wasn't far from the back entrance where they were and i missed getting a hug if only i noticed a few minutes earlier! But overall it was such a great night!

A SP concert is unforgettable. I think I would have to say it was the best concert I have been to. Their live rendition of RUN is why I love the song so much... its just beautiful when a band can get an audience to sing a whole song in unison and that's just what they did

Oh and I had the great fortune to see Martha Wainwright (who is AWESOME btw) perform with them and that made SFTTB so perfect given that it was MW herself who was performing with SP It was just a poetic experience

Definitely go to their concerts as soon as you have a chance

Lex, Rachel, Ava, I'm so happy for all of you, but I'm also a bit jealous. I was supposed to see them at the end of the Month in Montreal, but the plan fell through, and I was so upset. Your descriptions make me more determined to go see them somewhere.

I was fortunate to be able to see Snow Patrol live this past week in Seattle!

This was, by far, the best concert I've ever been to! I hardly know where to begin...it was sooo awesome! I got there early enough to get a great spot on the standing-room only floor...about 20 feet from Gary's microphone! The floor was filled up, and both the left and right sides of the arena's seating was filled, too. Lots of fans to share the love for SP. During the performance, Gary pointed out the fans in the "royalty boxes," way up at the top.

They performed all the songs from Eyes Open, except for "You Could Be Happy." For "Set The Fire To The Third Bar," Gary asked if any girls/ladies/women knew the lyrics to the song, and then he chose a girl from the audience, to sing with him! I think the entire arena starting swooning at that moment! She did a great job, and she got lots of hugs and encouragement from Gary! That was such a great idea...what a sweet moment to see. I think every single person was singing along to "Chasing Cars"...such an amazing thing to hear.

They performed most of the songs from Final Straw, too. They started off the concert with an extended intro into "Spitting Games," and then they performed "Wow" next...what a fantastic way to start it all off! "Run" got the entire audience singing along in unison again. Their encore must have been at least 5 songs long! Gary threw towels into the audience, and at the end, the drumsticks were also thrown...I almost caught one, too! I touched it, for a second!

The sound quality was excellent, and Gary's voice was just magical! The light show was superb, too. Unfortunately, Jonny, their drummer, was still unavailable to perform, because of his broken arm...but Gary said he was in the audience somewhere...he told us, if we see him, to kiss his elbow.

I had a good view of Paul and Nathan, as well...they had some laughs with the fans, and it looked like they were having such fun up there. Paul is an amazing performer on bass...he really rocked that guitar! Nathan played guitar so well, and he walked around a lot to interact with the fans. Gary, well, he's simply amazing on stage...his stage presence is magnetic...you just want to keep watching him...he's energetic while playing the guitar, and he always seems to have an amusing story to tell...I could listen to Gary's voice 24/7, either singing or speaking. Tom on keyboards, and the back-up drummer, Graham, did very well, too.

This concert went by way too quickly...I was wanting more! My voice was barely functional afterwards. If anyone gets the chance to see them perform, definitely go. I'll never forget the experience...Snow Patrol live is...WOW!

Roz, hope you enjoy the concert!

Rachel, thanks for reposting your awesome concert experience!

Wow, the Seattle performance sounded amazing! I went to the same concert as Rachel in Melbourne, and it seems like the set list was pretty similiar too except he had a local singer sing Set The Fire To The Third Bar with him. Oh how I wish it was me. I can't actually sing to save myself, but hey, minor detail.

I have to agree with you that Gary has excellent stage presence. He's really charismatic and engaging - and much better looking in real life . They did about five songs for an encore for us too. Some people left before they came back out which was stupid. As if they weren't going to do an encore... I was like oh my god you dumbasses.

I can't wait for them to come back here again .

Yes, Rhiannon, it was positively rockin' in Seattle!

Well, if Gary asked you to, you probably could have sung alongside him quite nicely. Indeed, he has loads of charisma.

I know...I also saw some people leaving during the break...and the lights were still off. How could they? It was so worth it to stay until they were finished! Us fans were making so much noise before the encore - it was awesome!

I saw them last summer at a music festival where they were the headliners so there set was as long as it would be at one of their concerts. They were incredible. It was the end of the night and everyone had been dancing and singing all day and most people were getting tired and then they came on stage and the fields of people just became electric and hyped up again. When they sang run you couldn't even hear them over the crowd singing it. Gary just laughed and said 'I'll let you guys sing it. You sound better than us'
And after they finished there set they went off and everyone chanted for an encore and the band came back on Gary running on whilst doing his jeans up and said 'this is why you should never go to the toilet straight after finishing a set.' And everyone was wolf whistling and cheering.

They had an unbelievable amount of energy on stage. They just lifted the crowd and whatever Gary told us to do, we did.

I've seen Snow Patrol twice now in concert. Both times were in Glasgow - first time was at the Barrowland in Dec '04, and I saw them again at the SECC in Dec '06. Both times were brilliant and I really should read up on them more instead of just listening to their music because I was surprised when Gary said about it being good to sleep in his own bed again, since I didn't realised they were still Glasgow based! *slaps forehead*

Anyway, they're a brilliant band and definitely one you should see live if you can!

ETA: When they sing Run it's always the best moment of the concert. The crowd really get into it and Gary just lets them sing the end chorus!
