I understand what RDM was trying to do with Laura's character, I do. I've seen it in real life...people fighting cancer and one year they just give up and wanna be with their family or do the things they like to do and just die on their own terms.

However, just b/c I understand it, doesn't mean as a viewer I have to agree with it. That's why I'm feeling zero sympathy for Laura right now. I loved her for the fierce leader that she was, and for the compassion she had for humanity in general, for her determination to do whatever it takes to get these people to a place they can call home. Now they are taking away all of those characteristics, that's how I see it.

I can understand her wanting to live because of the cancer but I don't like how its happening what after finding Earth. Now if this took place before they found Earth than I would be fine with it, but I also miss those characteristics

I don't like seeing Laura reduced to what they showed in the last 2 episodes. I guess that's the best way I can say it:nod:

I didn't like her giving up in the SAGN, that was hard, but then I took a second look at it and thought that woman has been through everything and now that, I could totally understand

Which goes into the latest eppy, she is fed up, everything she went by was wrong, nothing, and now she wants to live her life they way she wants, if only for a little while. I commend her for that :).

Yes I do miss kick ass Roslin, but for the moment, she is missing and Laura has taken her place, she is letting Laura in for a while..

In this episode, I'm just glad that she didn't fully give up because in SAGN she was more than a mess. What I like about her wanting to live in this episode is that she rather live instead of being like she was in SAGN. I don't agree with her giving up because of everything turned out to be a lie for Earth but I still think that she should have been there for the fleet and stayed as President but I understand her reasons for not wanting too

crazy_diamond 01-25-2009 01:37 PM

I think Laura is scared with the Presidency at the moment, with what happened, she thinks everyone is going to go right after her...

I personally think that she's given up and doesn't even want Presidency. I don't think it has anything to do with her being scared but I may be wrong though

Hmm I'm on a fine line with her giving it up, sometimes I think yes, sometimes I think, she's needs a break and will be back

With this issue, I'm 50/50 and sitting on the fence because I can understand her giving up and wanting to live but than sometimes I don't think she should have

She looks stunning in these caps :D, I glad she had the balls to do it...

Even though there was no dialogue, it was a very powerful scene.
