Have a great Thanksgiving Kali! :)

I made a pumpkin pie and we had a Thanksgiving style meal for Brandon tonight, not quite the same as 'back home' for him though.

That's nice Kate, I'm sure he liked it a lot  :)

So today is this major shopping day, yes we have that too, without the Thanksgiving  All those temptations, get me away from the internet....

Thanksgiving was great...so much food and sooooooooooooo many leftovers we don't have to cook for days and after I broke the news to my family it wasn't so great so I'm glad iI waited till late last night. I just wish I could have waited until after the new year...but everything will be fine and Christmas willstill he fun and happy! :) .

 Oh I so understand that. When we were living in Germany it was the same way for us. We'd celebrate the holiday as usual but someting was always just off about it, not that it wasn't great or anything it was different.

:lmao: Do you do "Cyber Monday" shopping too?

Over here it's esclated to "Grey Thursday" the stores that open up at 8pm Thanksgiving night. Black Friday the usual insane mess that always leads to at least one death. Small Business Saturday to support local small shops and then Cyber Monday..... :thud:

sam_doc 11-24-2012 11:32 PM

The only reason I like your Black Friday Kali is that some international shipping costs are down so I ordered some things from the US that I normally wouldn't

Cyber Monday, oh yes we have that too :smirk:

You know, that is sad, somehow the shopping gets more important than Thanksgiving, that shouldn't be the case.
Be thankful on Thursday, go crazy with shopping on Friday, that's enough, right?

Sunrise at Midnight 11-25-2012 07:28 AM

Oh that is a good point! I never thought about international shipping being lower then. Is it a good discount?

Yes. and it all comes down to one word. Greed. It used to be that all stores closed early on Wednesday nothing was open on Thursday. Now it's so far from what it used to be is depressing when yo hear someone say I have to work that day.

I never go shopping on that day, if we forget something for dinner that day or run out we deal with it.

and black Friday has morphed into a cult like status, people camping out in fron of stores for a week ahead just to "save" a few bucks..

Honestly there is no real savings because when they lower a price on one product for deep savings.. two or three more different go up in price to cover the difference. So someone always gets screwed.

Greed is a dangerous thing, just ask the Twinkie. :goof:

grrrr...my nose is bleeding....yuck!

Yes, it is a very sad situation :(

BTW I love your avi  do you post at the Downton Abbey board? :)

Sunrise at Midnight 11-25-2012 07:58 PM

As Aroa pointed out in her sig, we got this board December 1st 2006

We're closing down on December 2, 2012

Does anyone else find this a very fitting ending, almost like it was planed from the start?

Wow, it does seem like it was meant to be on that day. And 6 years... that's quite an achievement!

Sunrise at Midnight 11-26-2012 03:26 PM

 Not a bad way to end things at all! :)

As sad as I am to see it go, I can't help but be happy because we did accomplish a lot!!:group_hug:

Guess we need to go throgh and "take" some stuff for the OP of our new home huh? :goof:

Absolutely! We will gather some stuff and save it

Sunrise at Midnight 11-27-2012 07:41 AM

That is what I thought. It makes it easier somehow.

Well December 10th is the day. New testing to set baselines and then on the 12 the first radiation treatment.

Manhattan 11-27-2012 02:28 PM

^ Will be thinking of you Kali

Sunrise at Midnight 11-28-2012 11:22 AM

I don't think I will ever fully understand how some days I can feel just fine and others I feel so awful. It's like having a sickness that has multiple personalities or something :thud: feeling very wiped out today and I haven't even done anything yet...its after 1pm and I'm still in my pj's

sam_doc 11-28-2012 10:21 PM

That's so odd Kali  I wish you could only have good days!

I hope this Christmas will be a good one despite the treatment and stuff, sucks that this happens right around that time...
