To my darling Fan Forum family,

This is the second time I’ve stepped down from my moderator position here at the Zac Efron board. The first time was heart wrenchingly difficult but I was about to embark upon this epic round the world adventure so it kind of took the sting off it.

This time, my reason is entirely different. I wasn’t going to do a public announcement on a platform like this but I figured that if what was happening to me was happening to any one of you, then I’d want to know about it, and so, I shall owe you the same courtesy.

After a few days of speculation and ‘we think this is what we’re looking at’ - on Monday 14th July 2014 I was formally diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

I’ve returned to the Gold Coast, where I’m from and where my family is, and am now a part of the family in the Cancer and Blood Disorder wing. I’m looking at a battle ahead with chemotherapy starting in the next couple of days.

I love you guys here at Fan Forum and love Zac wholeheartedly, and am sure that his films will form a part of my recovery in some way! However it goes without saying that moderating here is not my current priority, nor do I anticipate that I will feel well enough to be performing my duties. All of the energy that I have will need to be channelled into the right mental mindset to take on this battle.

Depending on how I'm feeling as I go through chemo, and how many hours I have alone, I may pop by and do some posting or say hello. If I do, don't treat me with kid gloves. It will be an outlet. I hope to be back posting as a regular once I'm through these initial stages of my treatment, if all goes well.

I thank you in advance for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. I may not have the time/energy to respond back to individual messages however know that I will eventually read them all and they will help keep me strong.

Oh Dani A million miles of hugs coming your way!! I'm a Christian and I absolutely believe in the power of prayer and if this is okay with you, I'd be honored to do this for you. My wish for you is a speedy recovery with the least amount of stress and heartache. The Zac community is here for you with open arms! Please keep us posted as you heal your way thru this!

I've been complaining about period cramps all day, but this definitely puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

I... don't really know what to say, except that I wish you the very best on the road to recovery. It's going to be a difficult road ahead, for sure, but I hope you do know that we're all here to welcome you back with open arms when you feel better and I hope that that gives you the strength to fight.

I honestly don't know what to say. I recently lost a friend to cancer, Ovarian. I don't know what to do if i lose you. I'm sending you lots of love and hugs on your way. Please be strong for all of us, your friends and family as you go through this. We're always going to be here for you and we'll always love you.

I'm not good with words or anything, but this is just so unexpected. I hear about things that happen like this to other people but never anyone from fandom, what I would consider my second family. Dani i haven't even posted with you for so long, but just know that you have always been one of my favourite people on we dont always agree on things (except Rob), but i think thats why we were friends i'll be thinking of you over the next few days/months and when i see you posting again, i will for sure make time to say 'Hi!'
