When I ordered mine Amazon projected a delivery time of about 2 weeks later.

I can't wait to read the book either.

I'm wondering what they are going to do with the accents though. Aside from Zac and Claire everybody on the cast seems to be British. Christian McKay has done Orson Welles in that play for a long time so I assume he can do an American accent but I don't know about all the others. The book clearly plays in New York so I would assume that at least the majority speaks American English. But as often - we'll have to wait and see. :)

i'm half way through the book, and i only started it yesterday :woot: i'm really enjoying it, and this role is going to be great for zac and should be really great for his career!!!!!!!!!!

i hope the script is well done/ b/c we all know that can ruin a project!

the fact that the character is from NJ is funny to me b/c i'm a NYer and we're neighbors so to speak and i'm familiar with not only the town richard hails from but also the street!

and for those of you looking for the book, did you check your library? i got a copy from the libary, it was just sitting there waiting for me  i was more than willing to pay for it, but my motivation for trying the library was the instant gratification of walking out with it!

i just can't say enough how excited i am for this movie. does anyone have info regarding its anticipated release?

I could have ordered the hard copy with a protected delivery time of 2 weeks either, but I wanted paperback and they don't have it right now...hope that'll chance soon, because I wanted to read it before filming starts. :look:

Yeah, I was wondering about that before either. There are quite a few actors who can pull out a decent British accent, but I think if that was really important, they would have casted British people. So the actual cast seems to be goooood. :D

I'm jealous that you already have the book.

Some of us (like Jule and I) have the problem that non mainstream foreign language (as in English) books are not carried on stock in German bookstores (or in the library). But it's certainly a good tip for people who live in English language countries. :)

I wouldn't expect this movie to get a release date anytime soon. They need to get a distributor first (the distributor determines the release date) and that would typically happen after the movie is filmed and finished. Once the movie is final, it gets "shopped around" for a distributor (eg at a film festival) and once sold, that distributor determines the marketing and release strategy (including the date). This is one of the differences between a studio movie and an independent film.

I think I would be able to find a copy in a library in Berlin (the advantages of working in the library field ;)), but I want to own the book, because I already know I'll love it. If amazon acts stupid, I'll at least get it in London in March.

You always say so many smart things.

But still, I'm hoping Zac's still present heartthrob image will make the process a little shorter. I'd be satisfied with a winter release, because then we'd have Seventeen Again in August, HSM3 in October and M&OW probably at the end of the year. Or the beginning of 2009, that would suit me as well. :D

jule, bee, i didn't realize you were from germany! and i know what you mean about owning the book too! although i try to stay away purchasing books, b/c i already have too many in the house, and i really can't add another!

as for the distribution of the movie, if it is one of these projects that never gets picked up i don't know what i'll do :furious: hopefully it's "star" power will mean that won't happen!

For a winter release to happen it would need to try go down the FYC track. Premiere and get sold at the Toronto Film Festival in September and then hope for a limited release in December to qualify for awards season. BUT this would assume that the movie is sooooo good that they are hoping for major awards (which as much as I love Zac I can't see happening at the current stage of his career).

Otherwise this is very, very unrealistic. And you wouldn't want it released in Jan/Feb - that's "graveyard season". Personally, I don't think it'll be released before spring/summer 2009 at the earliest.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Many indies get never released or it takes forever (as in a few years). The only good thing nowadays is that DVD is profitable medium so more and more indies get released to DVD after a while even without a theatrical release. I do hope though that we'll get to see the movie sometimes in 2009. And Linklater has an excellent track record with his movies, so I decided to hold onto that.

Betty: My shelves are already more than full too, but I just can't help it.

Bee: Well, as long as we get a release, I'll be fine with it. And you have been right about a lot of things in the past, so I'll trust you. :P
And who knows...maybe Zac and Claire will surprise us and perform very Oscar-worthy. ;)

Lizzie♥Z&V 02-01-2008 03:43 PM

That would be awesome!!!
And thanks for answering my question of the accent :D

If they're filming in Pinewood Studios, it's not really London

But it's a 50 minute drive from my house, or about 15 by train :D :yay:

From Matthew of course...:sigh: I don't care that much about that Ephron guy.

It's close to Heathrow; I think it most peoples mind that qualifies for Greater London even though it isn't really.

You never know, perhaps they will film some on site scenes in London but I would think they hold that for NYC.

I still find it a little odd that they only shoot inside in London. Why bother traveling to London for that? So I'm still hoping for some outside filming. :smirk:

tyubi 02-02-2008 05:51 AM

a girl can dream, right :P
and.. I've tried to find the book in my library.. they didn't have it :(
I've looked on the comp but no, it's always like "Isn't avaible" or something like that.. and robert kaplow.. no, no book there!
stupid library!

Because the IoM most likely doesn't have any stages, so they will film scenes which require a studio in London which is close.

From what I get, most (if not all) the filming on the IoM takes place in the Gaiety Theatre but I'm sure there are other scenes. And the easiest to create a 1937 (indoor) setting is on a sound stage.

The the NYC filming is, I would guess, for outside scenes, give that the Mercury theatre was in NY.

I was so excited when I found out Zac would be playing this part, after he was seen a while back with the script. :D I've been wanting to see him in more roles and I think this sounds really good.

So will Clare Danes definitely be in it or is that just a rumor? Cause it's not on the IBDM page. But it would be pretty cool to see them work together if so. I mean she is a good actress so it is always nice to see him work with people who are as talented as him. :D

IMDB definitely isn't the fastest lately and we have proofen a lot of times before that we're faster than the official sources. :P
The Seventeen Again site on IMDB hasn't gotten updated in a very long time. They don't even have the characters names on there and the whole cast list and the movie will be wrapped this week...

Nonna 02-03-2008 10:23 AM

I should have known not to question your knowledge Jules. :P

Well that's awesome then cause it's not like I am a huge Clare fan but everything I have seen her in was good. So that's awesome. I can't wait to see them work together.

Or to see him work with the rest of them cast, when they are cast.

And that sucks about 17 Again. Don't they know we are hungry Zac fools? Well at least they are not the only source for information. I just thought they were reliable...so I wondered if it was fact or rumor. But very cook that is is true.

Over the last years I've learned that imdb isn't really that reliable. I mean on Zac's site it still says Troy Bolton (in talks) for HSM3, even though the contract is long signed...

Nonna 02-03-2008 11:37 AM

Yeah, then they are definitely slacking.

*°*Peryne*°* 02-03-2008 04:36 PM

Thanks again Bee for all your work

I'm glad they chose Clare Danes too. I'm not a huge fan, but well I like her work so that's great. Plus, as you said, she won several awards and so on, so it can't be a bad choice lol

I bought the book btw =) The internet is really an awesome invention lol
Now, I can't wait for it to be delivered, I'd like to read it before the filming starts

I was really hoping that this movie would happen, back when I saw Zac holding the screenplay in those JJ pics months ago. I took a look at a summary of the story, and it looked great! Plus, I think it will be another way for Zac to show his talent and versatility. And a short haircut, hopefully off his beautiful face, is a bonus!

I love movies from this time period, actually mid-thirties to around 1940 or so is my favourite period for movies, so I'm hoping this will have the essence of movies from that time.

Nonna 02-03-2008 04:44 PM

Jenn!

That is exactly what I was saying!

And Zac's forehead FTW. :D

Plus it's gonna be cool seeing him in all the costumes and really becoming the character....and parts with him acting on stage.

I'm sure it will and you know Zac will just own this role, I can already tell it's going to be amazing. :smirk:

follow the sun 02-03-2008 04:52 PM

Nonna!

Zac's forehead FTMFW!

Ia that this movie sounds great! It actually sounds like a movie I would have been excited to see, even if Zac wasn't in it. I really should read the book, too. (If I ever have time to read anything besides fic! )

Plus, the thought of him having 3 lady loves is exciting! Richard really gets around!

I also agree that seeing him act on stage will be great, even if Richard only had a very small role. It will at least be cool to get a sense of what Zac would be like on stage. Although I REALLY want to see him in a real stage production. One day, I hope!

Bee, the OP looks great! Thanks for opening this thread!

Please add me to the list, too! :D
