Welcome to the Kate Bosworth thread, where we celebrate the beauty, candor, and accomplishments of one very talented "Blue Crush"!

Catherine Anne Bosworth was born January 2nd, 1983 in Los Angeles, California, but her family moved around to various locations before settling on the East Coast when Kate was 14. It was also around this age that Kate, a championed equstrian, heard of a casting call for a film about horses. She attended the open audition in New York City using a Christmas Card as a headshot. Attending only to have the experience of auditioning for a film, Kate snagged the role of the best friend of the lead (Scarlett Johansson), and the oppertunity to work with Academy Award Winner, and Hollywood Legend, Robert Redford in The Horse Whisperer



Her previous acting experience had consisted of singing at county fairs in California and acting in a community theater production of 'Annie''. However, since landing the movie role, Kate seemed to be in more sound stages than ranches. Fearful that an early career would rob her of her childhood, she took 18 months off to live a normal life before opting to plunge into acting again. Full mini-biography can be found here.] She turned down the lead role in Blue Car when she wasn't guarenteed two days off so she could attend her promo and graduation.

In 2000 she landed two film roles: one of a sister in a family of four who start over in a new town in The Newcomers, and as the girlfriend of the co-captain of the football team in the Jerry Bruckheimer production Remember the Titans. She was also casted as townie Bella Banks in the short -lived WB series Young Americans.

After the series ended it's eight episode run, Kate snagged the role of Anne Marie Chadwick, a surfer living in a shack on the beach in Hawaii with her two best friends Eden [Michelle Rodriguez], Lena[Sanoe Lake], and her sister Penny [Mika Boorem] who prepares for the daunting Pipe Masters competition and falls for a football player in Blue Crush. This empowering female film required Kate to put in a lot of time and effore to train, and she did so, acquiring 15 pounds of muscle mass in the process. Her big break in this film earned Kate two MTV Movie Awards Nominations.

Next, in 2002, came a small role in The Rules of Attraction.



In 2003 Kate had a supporting role in Wonderland, a movie based on real-life events that occured in 1981, when porn star John Holmes was connected to the grisely murder of four people at 8763 Wonderland Avenue in Laurel Canyon in the Los Angeles area. Kate plays Dawn Schiller who was Holmes's teenage girlfriend at the time, and Val Kilmer starred as John Holmes. Kate consulted and met with Schiller before playing the role.

Also in 2003 Kate starred in the short comedy film Advantage Hart.

In 2004 Kate snagged her first lead role in a romantic comedy, when she starred as Rosalee Futch, a small town girl who wins a romantic date with Hollywood superstar Tad Hamilton [Josh Duhamel]. Tad falls for her, which poses a huge problem for Pete Monash [Topher Grace], Rosie's best friend, who is secretly in love with her to in Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!.

The next theatrical film release for Kate is Beyond the Sea a biopic of Bobby Darin. Kate plays Sandra Dee, an actress and american icon who was married to Darin for seven years. The film has been premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and is set for release in fall of 2004. Darin is played by Kevin Spacey. Dee died in 2005, shortly after the film was released to a wider audience.

In 2005 Kate will be in Bee Season with Richard Gere and Juilette Binoche.

She is currantly filming [i]Superman Returns[/b] in Sydney, Australia.

It was the real thing! I think it's a show that's on E!, but I wouldn't know for sure because I don't have cable regularly. It was on in my hotel room when I went to Boston.

BTW, I saw The Rules of Attraction today, starring the lovely Kate, plus Shannyn Sossamon, James van der Beek, Ian Somerhalder, Swoosie Kurtz, Faye Dunaway, plus a million other famous people. Kate had a really small role, but she looked amazing. The movie itself was kind of weird, and not for everyone, but I've read the Bret Easton Ellis book, and I liked it. It's about a bunch of nihilistic, disaffected students at a party college in Vermont. Kate plays a girl that the main character, Sean (van der Beek), sleeps with at a party.

I've never seen The Rules Of Attraction but I've always thought of it as an intriguing movie. I'll probably go watch it sometime this week.

Yeah it was a little disappointing, considering how big of a Bozmanite I am, but it was still cool seeing Ian Somerhalder there and all. I wonder if he and Kate reminisced about YA if they saw each other. They didn't have any scenes together, but who knows.

BTW it was my birthday on Sunday!! Wheee!

Boston was grrrreat. I'm not a fan of the state of Massachusetts, but Boston was fun....kind of like DC or Baltimore, very down-to-earth but still fun and exciting.
