Campbell Eyes Indian 'Partition'
Tue, Mar 15, 2005, 07:03 AM PT LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Neve Campbell is traveling to India. The 31-year-old actress is in talks to join Jimi Mistry and Kristin Kreuk in the epic romance "Partition," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The story centers on Gian (Mistry), who has resigned from the British Indian Army after World War II has ended. Ancient animosities cause massacres and strife, from which Gian saves young Muslim girl Naseem (Kreuk). They share a mutual attraction, which is challenged by the political and religious unrest. Campbell will play Margaret Stilwell, the lonely woman who helps Gian try to live a quiet life after resigning from the army. Vic Sarin will shoot in India in May. Philip Glass and Ravi Shankar will compose the score. Campbell recently appeared in the Robert Altman ballet drama "The Company" and in her altogether in "When Will I Be Loved." Campbell joins epilepsy campaign
Actress Neve Campbell said a relative with epilepsy has inspired her to support a "bill of rights" drawing attention to the condition. She backed the Epilepsy Foundation charity's rights list, as her cousin Coleen Campbell-Olwell is epileptic. "There is great misunderstanding about epilepsy," the Scream actress said. "Not only by people who don't know what it is but by people with it who don't believe they can lead a normal life or that they have options." The "bill of rights", written with drugs firm Novartis, provides information about the condition and tells people with epilepsy what they can demand in the workplace and at school. Epilepsy, or recurrent seizures, affects an estimated 2.5 million people in the US and 300,000 people in the UK. Campbell has featured in movies including the Scream trilogy, The Company and Churchill: The Hollywood Years. She made her name starring in US television series Party of Five. |
