There was a feature in the Sunday paper today on Maggie (Los Angeles Times). Really great article. I'm excited for Sherrybaby. Sounds like she gives an amazing performance.

There was also an article about her in our Saturday newspaper. Mostly about her work in both "Trust The Man" and "WTC".

Gyllenhaal Wins at Stockholm 'Sherrybaby' also named best picture November 27, 2006 Maggie Gyllenhaal in 'Sherrybaby'Maggie Gyllenhaal, who recently became a mother with fiancee Peter Sarsgaard, has won an award for playing a mother who needs a second chance in life in "Sherrybaby." The 29-year-old won the best actress award at the 17th annual Stockholm International Film Festival, which ended Sunday, Nov. 26. The Laurie Collyer-directed film also won the Bronze Horse award for best picture. "Sherrybaby" centers on 22-year-old Sherry Swanson (Gyllenhaal), who has just finished three years of jail time for robbery to feed her heroin addiction. She has a vision of landing a decent job and reconnecting with her daughter Alexis (Ryan Simpkins), who's been living with Sherry's brother Bobby (Brad Henke) and his wife Lynn (Bridget Barkan). Unfortunately, Sherry discovers that finding employment, staying clean and mastering motherhood are much harder and complex than life behind bars. Ryan Gosling was named best actor for his role in Ryan Fleck's "Half Nelson," in which he plays an inner-city high school teacher with a drug habit who befriends one of his students after she discovers his secret. Awards also went to Daniel Sanchez Arevalo for his directorial debut "Darkbluealmostblack," Beatrix Christian for her "Jindabyne" screenplay, Anthony Dod Mantle for the cinematography in "The Last King of Scotland," and an audience award for Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' "Little Miss Sunshine." The Lifetime Achievement award went to Swedish filmmaker Lasse Hallstrom, known for "The Cider House Rules," "Chocolat." __________________

I've always wanted to see "Sherrybaby" but it was never released here.
I saw "Stranger Than Fiction" a couple of weeks ago. Maggie was great in it. Any news on if she and Peter had their baby yet? I thought she was due in October. |

Really? I haven't seen it reported on any entertainment show or website. I guess they want to keep the news low-key, unlike some other celebrities. Congrats to her and Peter!
"World Trade Center" is also out on DVD today. |
