Are they going with the rape scene? I found her cute until war of the worlds I know think shes gonna be the next paris hilton or lindsey lohan with all his fandom. i hope she doesnt get a award for this movie its like 12yr old porn I also found it inmature when I found out she should stick with movies for her age like Anna Sophia Robb honestly!

What are movies her age? She's not a little girl anymore, so I think she's ready to move on. She is too old to do Cat in the Hat and other kid movies.

I think it's inappropriate to refer to the scene as "12-year-old porn". It's dealing with mature content, that's for sure, but like I posted a page back or so, girls her age and younger are getting raped daily. Portraying a role like this should be noted as a good thing, making people aware of the situation.

Some people are too quick to judge.

I think that is a very innaccurate way to describe the scene/movie.

Furthermore this is an appreciation thread so to come in here and compare her to other celebs and talk negatively about her is not what this thread is for.

They filmed the rape scene. That's why there is so much controversy over the role. But there is NO NUDITY and NO VIOLENCE shown.

She is lured to the assault by her best friend Buddy (played by 12-year-old Cody Hanford), who watches the rape. In a "Dear reader" note, director/screenwriter Deborah Kampmeier points out that "there is no nudity or explicit violence in this scene. All nudity and violence is implied." Still, the script is very creepy, with its description of how Fanning does a seductive dance for Wooden's Boy when he offers her tickets to see Elvis Presley. Then, after Buddy tells her to remove her clothes, the script notes that, "We see Lewellen's clothes hit the floor. Lewellen's underwear hits the floor hard, with defiance." [No, we're not sure how a little girl's undies can hit the floor with defiance. But we're not auteurs.] As the rape occurs, Kampmeier notes, Lewellen's "tense hand" presses down on an exposed nail, "like the pain there could catch her and hold her." As noted in the script, "LIGHTNING FLASHES" 11 times during the rape scene. (5 pages)

But I think that should clear things up. There's nothing controversial about what was filmed, in my opinion. The controversial part is the material period.
