Episode 3x16 - "Things Fall Apart" Discussion Thread
Things Fall Apart Thursday 26th February, 2009 Betty makes a surprising discovery when an assignment from YETI finds her and Marc analyzing Mode's budget for the past year. Meanwhile, she has to deal with increased attention from Matt and the knowledge that old flame Henry has posted some unexpected news on Facebook. Promo(s) Promo Pictures Sneak Peeks The only thing I have to say: HENRY!?!? EEEEEEE!!! (This initially cheered me up after a crappy blow to my CSI Miami ship but if his off-screen "cameo" is to deliver bad news... well I'm just PRAYING it's nothing bad because I might just cry if it is. Please nothing bad, please nothing bad, please nothing bad, please nothing bad, please nothing bad... ) __________________

Thanks for the new thread Hestia!
For some stupid reason the sound from the YT videos isn't working for me so I can't watch them, but I saw the promo last week and this episode looks like it's going to be good! Lots of drama And I knew about the Henry thing, I'm intrigued __________________

I'm pretty excited about this episode. I even checked out the sneak peeks (despite the fact that I'm not big on spoilers) and talk about intriguing surprises! Also, poor Daniel - I just wanna give him some nice hot tea and an aspirin. It has been cold here the past few weeks but then it see-saws to warmer climate and back again. That's what gets ya' sick. One day it's warm t-shirt weather and the next it's windy and hailing. __________________

Man, can next episode be a lighter one? The ending to this one was so depressing and I don't want SuperDad in the hospital again.
I loved the episode! I had no idea about Connor so I was going pretty crazy throughout. I'm kind of bummed the show went that route again (not embezzlement specifically), but build a character up only to destroy it within one episode. It's my same deal with Jesse, another character I liked a lot. I didn't get a chance to comment on that a couple of weeks ago, but that wasn't right. I figured he and Betty weren't meant to be, but making him self-centered in such an obnoxious way was a bit too much. I'm getting on a tangent, though. The Connor storyline was just a lot to take in one episode that I wish there was some kind of progression...or at least that we saw some hints. The only possible thing is the Daniel rift, but that's pretty weak. In any case, I still loved the episode. Willie was great and really had me feeling for her more than anyone else. I mean, she was put in a difficult spot and made the right decision. I also really loved the Marc/Willie moments and I felt for him when he was disappointed thinking Willie made the wrong choice. I was happy when Wilhelmina proved where her loyalty was, but I think the heaviness of the whole situation still kind of burdened me. We already knew Molly was sick so I'm glad Daniel knows now, but poor guy for finding out and then having her leave immediately. By the way, Molly and Connor leaving in the same episode? Is this really their last and the show decided that they were done with them storyline-wise? Oh, and I'm really glad Claire was there to comfort Daniel, but I found her presence to be a bit creepy. Like, Claire's just lurking about? I support Judith getting more scenes, but maybe the show can work on a smoother transition. On a happier note, I adore Matt! I'm not really surprised since I loved all the guys they paired against B (except Walter...sorry Kevin), but he definitely has an adorable quirkiness to him that's not forced. I loved his introduction last episode. He was sweet and really warm, but he stood up to Betty when she was being unfair. I liked that a lot. And he apologized later for being too harsh, which I loved. They seem to have a lot in common and click personality-wise, so I could definitely go for them. Hee. On a final note, I liked the Suarez stuff as a whole, but Justin's reaction to the Nicks jersey was one of my favorite moments from the episode. Mark needs more airtime, because boy delivers! __________________

Steph I'm not big on Betty's other boyfriends and I COULDNT stand Henry (No offense Hestia but I like Matt *Shrusg* I dont know why I think this because I dont like Tom Cruise but theres something about him that reminds me of Him and I like the chemistry He and Betty seem to be having __________________

Is not that I don’t like Henry but I think Betty should have been over him already and not let the fact that he has move on affect her this way. I mean who needs Henry when you got Matt and Daniel right here. I like Matt he's so cute and adorkable (he’s not a dork but this is the first word that pops into my mind when I think of Matt) he’s probably the only guy I would ship Betty with besides Daniel. When I first saw the preview I thought that Connor wanted to get to Daniel by getting rid of Betty because we all know that without Betty, Daniel would have been long gone. I don’t like Daniel sick, he’s winey and annoying. (No flames please) On the other hand I'm tire of Daniel's world falling apart, it’s like the guy can't get a break. I know it's all about the drama but come on can somebody else be the punching bag for once. Willy did the right thing, as much as I wanted Wilhellmina back I'm sort of starting to like nice Wilhelmina and I agree with her she’s work long and hard for her career just to abandoned it like that. Thought a part of me thinks she also stayed because she’s was worried about what people would say about her and because she figure she would have a better chance of a future with her son. For a moment there I though that Elena was going to stay in California but I'm glad she's back because I like her and I think superdad needs someone to love. Justin's reaction to the jersey was priceless. I don't comment much on the relationship between Betty, Marc and Amanda but I like their relationship and the fact that is growing is a bonus.

Melissa, I know! I'm glad the show wasn't the only thing I watched last night, because it got really heavy.
That's interesting about Tom Cruise. Matt does seem to have a haircut that's similar to one of Tom's early hairstyles. That's all I can think of, though. But yeah, he and Betty do have a lot of chemistry! (Is is safe for Matt and Betty to get a shipper thread now? I almost started one for Jesse at the beginning of the season, but I'm so glad I didn't now. ) LunaSolTierra, I love the friendship between Betty and Marc/Amanda, too! Yeah, I agree that Daniel's world falls apart way too often. They build up his happiness only to take it all away. To be honest, it's getting old. I think it's kind of natural that Betty had that reaction to finding out Henry's in new relationship. Even though she was the one that ended things she still cares, etc. But, even though I did ship Betty/Henry, I still hated that she went on for 30 minutes to Matt at the bar. __________________

That was probably the least funniest episode of Ugly Betty ever.Double blow for Daniel.I wonder how he is going to pick up his life after Molly.Every woman he really falls for , well it ends in disaster.I'm thinking now i understand now why he plays the field a lot.It safer for him to do that.Well i'm glad that he still has Betty. She went to him to tell him the truth even though Conner threatened her family. No wonder Daniel trusts her more than anyone.

I was disappointed in how they handled Conner. I get him wanting to hurt Daniel, but so many people lives are invested in Meade publication. He would have put thousands of people out of work, and with how the economy is they wouldn't just bounce back. So I'm annoyed they made Connor out to be that kind of selfish jerk who only cares about his revenge.
I like the little shout out to Henry and Betty's past. You know that saying, "the only way to move forward is to know where you come from." I love the fact that Marc and Amanda are more like Betty's friends now. Marc giving her advice about guys and asking how her date went. Amanda's "is pink back" line was just great to have in there while dealing with the serious story. I'm glad Elena didn't stay away for long. Ignacio deserves someone who makes him happy. That and they're just so adorable together. Him moping around because she was in CA and then them snuggling on the couch. I'm praying the writers don't mess up this relationship. Poor Daniel fighting to save the company and then have Molly walk out on him because she's dying. Though I think that's the last of Conner, I don't think that's the last of Molly. I think they will have Daniel be there in her last few months. And can I just say I loved Wilhelmina's running away outfit. Very Audrey Hepburn meets Casablanca meets comfortable. Oh and loved the song at the end, does anyone know the name and who sings it? __________________

Steph Yeah I think thats the thing I think its his hair because he reminds me of Tom when he was in that movie "SPEED" but nonetheless I can definetly ship Betty and Matt they are cute together
Luna I agree with what Steph said it takes awhile to get over a guy no matter who does the breaking up and I dont think that it was so much the fact that she thought she wasnt completely over him as it was the fact that he rebounded so quickly, I can speak from experience on that one. __________________
