It was cloudy here today, and we had a brief thunderstorm, but it passed quickly. :)
But I have to go back to work on Saturday, so tomorrow is my last day of vacation. :( |

No, it wasn't, Rita. :( I may try to take more days for my next vacation in July.
I'm sorry you got so much rain, Dave. :( Yeah, I got a lot of rain here too all during my vacation week. This is why I'm taking another one in July and I hope the weather will be better. Rave: Today is the first day of Summer! :sun: :woot: |
rave- weather is much better today
rant- had to reschedule eye dr. appointment b/c his office is taking a week off in July |
I know that you may feel safe to say today is the first day of summer because sum1 isn't here, but I don't understand why you keep saying that. June, July, August are the summer months, the solstice has nothing to do with it. Is it really counted like that in the US? Cause that would be so weird.
I've given up on technical Summer date...I just go by the weather and tv summer premiere shows...lol... now, the good movies in theater start first week of May usually...so movies don't have bearing on summer for me
those are good pointers Dave

Well, that's the thing, Rita. The way we rate the seasons can be done either by the actual planetary rotation, or by how humans measure things. Technically, we measure the seasons by the amount of daylight and darkness, with the first day of Summer and Winter being the solstices, which are either the longest or shortest days of the year, and the first day of Spring and Autumn being the equinoxes, where there's an equal amount of daylight and darkness. But as for how humans measure the seasons, it's more cultural and how we measure temperature. :) Sure, We consider the entire month of June to be summer, even though it begins halfway through June just because of the weather. :sun: Also, many people here in the USA consider Memorial Day weekend to be the "unofficial" start of the summer holiday season because that's when many people go to the beach and have backyard barbecues, and it's also when Hollywood used to start releasing their summer blockbusters following the success of Jaws and Star Wars, both of which were released on Memorial Day weekend in 1975 and 1977. It's all subjective. :) |

Rant- weekends...nonthing is good on tv...so watching baseball atm... |
I agree, there's nothing good on TV on the weekends. :( But there's not a lot good on TV these days anyway. Man, I miss 90s TV. :bawl: There was so much to watch.
I got Man of Steel DVD for a buck... Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent:)
Awesome deal, Dave! :high_five: I just wish the film had been better.
yea...it's not quite Superman Original...but the movie is sitll good
It could've been better. I wish it was more like the 1986 Man of Steel comic book miniseries by John Byrne. That's the one that rebooted Superman's storyline post-Crisis on Infinite Earths, similar to what Frank Miller's Batman: Year One did for Batman in 1987.
Superman lived and beat AntiMonitor.... so what whas his story Post Crisis
computer problems this morning...fixed after restart...after I watched my show |
