Your Preferences When Writing
I heavily dislike writing technical stuff! Even if I'm entirely familiar with the subject, I don't like it when I have to use terms and describe procedures, etc. I even have to pay special attention to that part of the fic (when it applies) because I get lazy and it can ruin everything.
I love writing dialogue and I try to keep it simple. The thinking like a character would think, what would they react to this or that, etc, that is so great. I also love coming up with new characters, but they almost never make it on the fic if I can't find the perfect way to introduce/use them. Heh. One of the things I like most when writing, is "filling blanks." Like when something happens off screen and you imagine how it went down. Or to come up with an explanation for something that happened out of the blue. __________________

One of the things I like most is filling in the blanks too. I've written a few 'missing scene' fics. I always find it hard to start off so if I have something like that to go on the story seems to flow easier.

I also love 'filling blanks' scenes and explanations.
I'm a big fan of writing the narration. I have to be sure to go back and make sure I have enough dialog because I have a tendency to just say "he told her about blah blah blah" and not have it actually be said by the characters. __________________

I really like when the writer goes into what's in the character's head. Not just one character, but all of them. I like to see what they're thinking, it gives some insight to how the fic is going to play out.

I guess I tend to do more narration than dialogue. I really like describing things from the outside, giving a take on what is happening, describing the events and actions, filling in the details. But I've also written some chapters that had a lot of dialogue, and that was fun, too. I just think narration comes more naturally for me.
I just read a fic that was a deleted scene from a movie and it was great! I loved how she filled in the time between two scenes in the movie but seemed to keep the flow going and made the next scene in the movie make more sense because of what happened in her story __________________

I just realized my favorite fic (from another writer) hardly has any dialogue. Heh. But I love dialogue so much. It's so telling how words are used to make it sound like a certain person is saying them and feeling them.
Narration can be so beautiful. I love dialogue because it's a change in tone from character to character, but I do love writing narration too. I like describing. It makes everything "real" for me, and hopefully, for the reader. __________________

I tend to give a lot of detail. Details are important for me. And consistency. But I like narration because I like to play with the language I use, the turn of a phrase, a metaphor, etc. But in dialogue, I do like playing with the emotion of the characters in the scene, and with voice, the way they would phrase something, or the way they might change what/how they say something to a different person or under different circumstances
I actually find dialogue harder though, so I should do more of it to practice more __________________

Words can describe the personality of the character

I like narration, but I think I sometimes over-use it and don't put enough dialogue in But when I'm writing dialogue, I have to keep checking that it sounds natural, like it's something the person would say if they were standing in front of me.
Also with preferences, I find it nearly impossible to write something without music in the background that reflects the piece. That way, the idea sort of comes into my head like a movie scene. It's much easier for me __________________

Oh I agree on the music thing. It definitely helps with the feel of what you're writing.

What bugs me is sometimes I can't find the right song And I have to search and search for something. But it's all worth it in the end.
