I watched this movie a couple of days ago. :nod:

I think this is one of the most bizarre movies I've ever watched! :goof:

I'm just going through some of the bonus features. :) I have an idea of what it was all about, but I think I'm going to have to watch it again, to even attempt to understand what was going on. :lol:

:lol: The first time I watched the movie...I was so flippin confused! As soon as it was over, I restarted it and watched it again! :lol:

Okay, I guess it's normal to be this confused after watching it only once. :lol:

I did really enjoy the movie, though...lots of good things to rave about. For example, there were some unique camera angles and such, and the soundtrack was so appropriate...eerie, to say the least. Jake did a phenomenal job with his character...Donnie really freaked me out a number of times. :goof:

I love the scene that the thread title refers to...all the Smurf talk had me chuckling! I used to watch that show with my siblings and figured it was fairly benign, but after hearing Donnie's take on it all, it's given me a whole new perspective. :lol:

^^ Yeah, it makes you look at smurfs in a whole new light. :lol:

Sharon, I don't think I'll ever see Smurfs the same way again. :lol: It was funny, too, how Donnie was clearly intoxicated while rambling on about them...he just couldn't put up with his friends not having 'the right information' about those little blue creatures, and so he had to speak his mind. :lol:

Hey, Teena! :hug: Yeah, I managed to find the Director's Cut. It had some cool features on there. I especially loved the Production Diary...lots of fun stuff in there, with Jake behind-the-scenes. ;)

ETA - And I agree about the Smurfs. Everytime I see them, I think of Donnie :lol:

I thought the ending montage was awesome in this movie...showing the characters, without dialogue, deep in thought, while "Mad World" is playing...it was great. :D

Donnie's final moments while he was laughing to himself kind of confused me...did he finally understand what the whole ordeal was about? :look: (side note - I loved seeing Jake giggle like that. :blush:)

As to what he was giggling about, I have no clue! There are still parts of the movie I don't understand ;)

But I too loved the end. Perfect use of that song.

In one of the commentaries, Jake talks about how Maggie made him leave the set when they filmed the end cause it was hard for her to do that scene!

ETA - And! One of my underwriters at work asked me about this movie! He's seen it and said he's had to watch 6 or 7 times to understand it!

Donnie Darko was on last night. My sister and I fought over the remote and she won, so, I didn't get to watch it :lol: I hope there's a rerun or something.
