Dominic Purcell

At the age of two, Dominic and his family moved from England to Sydney's Bondi and then moved to the Western Suburbs. After becoming a landscape gardener he soon tired of the profession and whilst watching the war movie Platoon decided to become an actor. Due to his working class background acting seemed a very unlikely choice of career so he didn't pursue it until sometime later. He studied at The Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) and then later enrolled at the Western Australian Academy of Performing arts where he met his future wife Rebecca and studied with Hugh Jackman.

In 1997 Dominic scored a role in the TV series RAW FM and then landed a part in 'Mission Impossible 2' , which was filmed in Australia. He was soon spotted by a US talent scout and went off to LA. Since then Dominic has been working constantly with roles in the movie Equilibrium, the TV show John Doe, Blade 3:Trinity, and in the upcoming thriller 3-Way and a new police television drama, Strut.

Lincoln Burrows

Background

Lincoln dropped out of Morgan Park High School during his sophomore year and began his life of crime. Prior to being convicted for the murder of the Vice President's brother, he had been convicted of theft, criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and battery. He and Lisa Rix had a son together, Lincoln Burrows, Jr. (L.J.).

When Michael was 18, Lincoln borrowed $90,000 to pay for Michael's university education, telling him that it was his half of his mother's life insurance. There really was no life insurance and this money was the start of the events which ultimitely led to Lincoln being sentenced to death.

Character development

Season 1

Lincoln Burrows in season 1Lincoln was accused of murdering the vice president's brother, Terrence Steadman, when a parking garage surveillance video showed him committing the murder. He pled not guilty at the trial, but was convicted on all counts and sentenced to death. He has exhausted all of his appeals and his death date is set for May 11.

The day before the planned escape, Lincoln tried to stall a guard from walking in on the escape route on which the inmates were working, causing him to be locked up in solitary confinement. His execution was delayed temporarily when a man, who appeared to be Lincoln and Michael's father, sent documents to a judge. Lincoln's execution was postponed for two weeks (rescheduled for May 26th), giving more time for his brother to reformulate the escape plan.

A week later, his son, L.J. was arrested for the attempted murder of Owen Kravecki (Agent Kellerman). Surprisingly, he was granted leave to see his son. This was thought to be orchestrated by Kellerman and Vice President Reynolds as they wanted to eliminate Lincoln as soon as possible. After the prison van crashed, Lincoln's father saved Lincoln from being strangled to death by Kellerman. Relocated to a car junkyard, Lincoln's father revealed that Lincoln was chosen for the set-up for Terrence Steadman's murder because he had leaked classified information about Ecofield. Hence, in order to capture Lincoln's father, "The Company" put Lincoln on death row to force him out into the open. However, Lincoln's father did not appear until three years after Lincoln's sentence. Disgusted at his father for leaving him when he was young, Lincoln blamed him for Lisa's death, and Michael and LJ's incarcerations. However, when Kellerman discovered their hideout, Lincoln told his father to leave so he would not be discovered. Lincoln then called out to Bellick in order to save his own life.

Recaptured, Lincoln was put into solitary confinement with 24-hour surveillance at Fox River. This further complicated Michael's plan who now only needs the key to the infirmary to complete his escape plan. When Michael was granted permission to visit him, Lincoln told Michael to leave without him since time was running out for the escape team after Bellick discovered the hole. On the night of the escape, Michael forcibly made the Warden transfer Lincoln to the infirmary. Moments later, Lincoln, Michael and a few other inmates made it over the walls of Fox River. They were last seen in the season finale, being chased by the police after the plane they were supposed to use to escape left them behind.

Season 2

The escapees were later seen in the season premiere successfully evading Bellick's guards, commandeering an SUV, en route to Oswego, where Michael, Lincoln, and the gang found a change of clothes in a hidden cache found in the grave of E. Chance Woods. Michael and Lincoln also had cash and fake passports hidden in a backpack for themselves.

When Veronica telephoned Lincoln to inform him that she'd located the living Terrence Steadman, Lincoln grimly played witness to Veronica's final moments as the agents she thought had come to her aid shot her three times. Lincoln was momentarily stunned by the profound loss, and immediately demanded that he and Michael break L.J. out of the Cook County Courthouse before his son's hearing. Despite Michael's initial protestations, the two formulated an impromptu prison-break plan; Lincoln learned the time of the hearing by phoning the courthouse and pretending to be a member of the press, then contact L.J. by pretending to be the teenager's recently deceased attorney.

Lincoln and Michael's plan was only narrowly foiled when FBI Special Agent Mahone decoded Lincoln's message to L.J. — "on the third, look out for Otis Wright; keep your head up" — and escorted L.J. in the right-hand Otis Manufactured elevator on the third-floor of the courthouse. Despite having L.J.'s arm in his hand, Lincoln botched the plan by dropping his spray-painted water-gun, alerting Mahone to the fact that the escapees were actually unarmed; even though Michael had procured Mahone's loaded sidearm, L.J. told his father to let him go and escape, and Lincoln did so. Unfortunately, the elder Lincoln took a bullet in the leg in the subsequent flight from the police.

Michael takes Lincoln to the apartment of his wife Nika Volek, and tends to Linc's wound using rubbing alcohol, cayenne pepper, towels, and a bottle of vodka. After Michael recovers his Honda Accord, Lincoln joins Michael on a drive to Route 38 where they elude Mahone by forcing their car off a bridge and a car bomb that detonates when the radio's "scan" feature reaches 103.7 FM. Unfortunately, the radio jams once it falls from the bridge, so Lincoln risks his life to press the button. He somehow escapes the explosion, and all those accompanying Mahone assume Michael and Lincoln to be killed. After a failed impromptu prison-break plan rescue L. J., Lincoln and his brother journey to Utah to retrieve Charles Westmoreland's five million dollars. Lincoln's anxiety for L. J. causes conflicts with Michael, who wants to follow his plan. Eventually, Lincoln leaves Michael to find L. J. but discovers that he is still a target of "The Company". Lincoln's father again comes to his son's rescue. After reassured of L. J.'s safety, Lincoln travels with his father to meet Michael. Aldo is later killed by F.B.I. agent Alexander Mahone (played by William Fichtner), which prompts Michael and Lincoln to stop running and to find evidence to expose "The Company" by searching for Sara Tancredi (played Sarah Wayne Callies). In "The Killing Box" when Lincoln and Michael are captured by the Border Patrol, they are aided by Paul Kellerman, who in an act of self preservation, turns against "The Company".

In "John Doe" Lincoln comes face to face with Terrence Steadman, the man he was convicted of murdering. Steadman commits suicide and forces Lincoln and Michael to look for an alternative way to prove Lincoln's innocence. Lincoln, Michael and Kellerman find Sara and together, they head back to Chicago, where Sara's father, Frank Tancredi (played by John Heard), had hidden the USB drive which holds a recorded conversation between Caroline Reynolds and Terrence Steadman after his supposed death date. When the tape proved to be useless as evidence, Lincoln and Michael attempt to blackmail President Caroline Reynolds (played by Patricia Wettig). When this also fails, Lincoln and Michael are forced to leave the country. In Sona Lincoln's exoneration finally comes through when Paul Kellerman decides to testify against "The Company". The brothers' joy was short-lived when Bill Kim (played by Reggie Lee) tracks them down in Panama and has orders to kill "one of them". Sara shoots Kim, allowing them to escape. As the police draws near, Lincoln, Michael and Sara flee from the scene but are separated in the process. After his brother is recaptured, Lincoln goes to the police station to searche for Michael and Sara and spots Sara traveling alone. He calls out to hr but she disappears into the crowd.

Season 3

Lincoln uses his free status to try and help Michael get out of SONA. He visits the American consulate. A person tells him that the SONA guards pulled out and left the inmates to themselves which makes it the deadliest prison in Panama. The consul is only able to get Michael a transfer to a cleaner, safer prison, scheduled for the next day. Lincoln visits his brother outside SONA between the prison fences where he explains the situation. Michael asks Lincoln where Sara is but he does not know. Lincoln says goodbye to his brother and tells him he will visit him tomorrow. The local authorities believe they've found Sara's body, but at the morgue, Lincoln sees that the body is not Sara's. Lincoln is then called by his son LJ and is instructed to meet him and Sarah at a bar, he instead encounters stranger calling herself Susan B. Anthony (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), who at first flirts with Lincoln, but then makes it clear that she is associated with The Company. Susan lets Lincoln know that Sarah and LJ have been kidnapped and will be killed if Michael doesn't break out a man imprisoned in Sona named Whistler. Lincoln tells Michael about the situation the next day.

As Michael plots his escape, Lincoln does some sleuthing of his own on the outside: he follows Whistler's girlfriend and manages to acquire the contents of Whistler's safety deposit box (an ornothlogy guide with Whistler's notes in it). As Michael begins to have doubts, Lincoln takes matters into his own hands, tracking down Sara and LJ and knocking out two company agents before the other agents escape with their hostages.Following his failed attempt Lincoln receives Sara's head in a box. He decides not to tell Michael , who instructs Lincoln to recruit the grave digger. Lincoln attempts to bribe the gravedigger but the grave digger is killed by Susan after trying to extort them. Sucre becomes the new grave digger. He is also forced to hand the real bird book to Susan.

In Interference Lincoln goes about procuring a getaway vehicle. After finding the roads are heavily guarded, Linc buys some supplies at a dive shop, and then goes with Sofia to the beach, not far from the prison, where he buries something in a cooler. A getaway for himself, Michael, Sofia and Whistler.
