"Pilot" - Gabriel and Riley must rescue the kidnapped member of CyberCom who invented the chip implanted in Gabriel's brain before the top-secret technology falls into the wrong hands. Meanwhile, Gabriel takes advantage of his chip to search for his wife who disappeared years ago, on the special series premiere of INTELLIGENCE, Tuesday, Jan. 7 (9:00-10:01 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. It will move to its regular Monday (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) time period on Jan. 13.

INTELLIGENCE is an action thriller starring Josh Holloway as a high-tech intelligence operative enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. With this implant, Gabriel is the first human ever to be connected directly into the global information grid and have complete access to Internet, WiFi, telephone and satellite data. He can hack into any data center and access key intel in the fight to protect the United States from its enemies. Leading the elite government cyber-security agency created to support him is Director Lillian Strand, a straightforward and efficient boss who oversees the unit's missions. Strand assigns Riley Neal, a Secret Service agent, to protect Gabriel from outside threats, as well as from his appetite for reckless, unpredictable behavior and disregard for protocol. Also on the team is Chris Jameson, a resourceful federal investigator. The brains behind the design of the chip is Dr. Shenendoah Cassidy, whose son, Nelson, is jealous of Gabriel's prominent place in his father's life. As the first supercomputer with a beating heart, Gabriel is the most valuable piece of technology the country has ever created and is the U.S.'s secret weapon.

You've probably had a crush on Josh Holloway since his turn as bad boy Sawyer on Lost, but is his new show, Intelligence, just as good? The CBS midseason thriller premieres Jan. 7, and instead of playing an outlaw on an island, Holloway is a superagent with a microchip in his brain that allows him to access the entirety of the Internet. If that sounds like your jam, read on to find out if Intelligence is worth your time. What it's about: Equipped with a microchip that essentially allows him to access all the information from the Internet and various government databases at any given time, Gabriel (Holloway) is the United States' most powerful piece of technology. In addition to being incredibly smart, Gabriel is also terribly reckless. His boss (CSI's Marg Helgenberger) assigns him a pretty bodyguard (Once Upon a Time's Meghan Ory) to look after him, but he's pretty hell-bent on continuing with his daily routine. Where it works: The concept is borderline realistic, which makes the show more interesting. Josh Holloway has such a strong screen presence, and he makes a great lead — especially for Lost fans, since he's essentially playing Sawyer, only smarter. Where it doesn't: The dialogue is overwrought, and everyone seems so serious, even as they're saying silly things. The whole cast could lighten up a bit. You might like this show if: You love other high-octane CBS dramas like Hostages and Person of Interest. When it's on: Mondays at 10 p.m. on CBS.

The best part about the series are the characters of Vaughn and Neal. Holloway provides the perfect amount of sarcasm, action hero, and human vulnerability that makes the character entirely appealing. Riley Neal, from what we learn, has been protecting people since she was fifteen years old, something that has become part of her personal DNA. She proves that she takes her role of protecting Vaughn very seriously (in the pilot ep she’s already pushing him out of the line of fire to take a bullet for him since that’s what she was hired to do and has been doing for years for others, including the president.) Neal is a tough, understanding, and incredibly smart female character who isn’t afraid to kick ass or be vulnerable when the situation calls for it. Vaughn and Neal definitely create a fun dynamic as partners, and it will be interesting to see how the following episodes compare to the strong pilot.
