Warner Bros. Television’s popular series SUPERNATURAL makes history this summer as SUPERNATURAL: THE ANIME SERIES is released in the United States as the first-ever live-action series to be re-imagined in Japanese anime style. The all-new, 22-episode animated series will be distributed July 26, 2011 by Warner Home Video on Blu-ray™ for $54.97 (SRP) and DVD for $49.98 (SRP), as well as On Demand and for Download. Order due date is June 21, 2011. SUPERNATURAL, noted for its creative storytelling of the occult during its first six seasons on The CW Network, has also achieved great popularity across the planet – particularly in Japan. Inspired by its sensational following overseas, Warner Home Video Japan and renowned animation studio Madhouse combined forces to envision SUPERNATURAL as an anime series – first released in Japan and now translated for American audiences. SUPERNATURAL: THE ANIME SERIES revisits the Winchester brothers’ journey down the backroads of America as they search for clues to their father’s disappearance, hunt down the supernatural in all its unearthly forms, and enter into the unexpected mystery of their destinies. The SUPERNATURAL anime episodes mirror the story arc of the series’ first two seasons, providing supplemental stories ranging from prequels and spin-offs to untold tales that fit within the SUPERNATURAL mythology. I picked this up yesterday...I haven't watched it yet though. I didn't plan on buying it because Jensen's episodes will be included on the S6 dvds, and I worry about somebody else playing Dean, even if it's just in voice. But I saw it and went OOOOH! ....and it was on sale...so I caved.

I hope I enjoy it.

I've only seen a few episodes. I quite enjoyed it but I guess nothing can compare to our real show. Anyway, I really liked how they did the two parts of All The Hell Breaks Loose. It was nicely done, they didn't forget about the hug. But whenever I see Bobby on this series I want to laugh, I don't quite know why.

I did. a vast improvement from the orginal...character wise anyway. i hated the way 'our' Missouri treated Dean.

So far I'm very pleased with the series, I was trying to go from first episode onward, but darn it I had to skip to Jensen's episodes. and then I noticed they did a version of WIAWSNB so that one I'm watching next, the orginal is one of my favorites.

WIAWSNB is awesome! I think it's one of my fav. too, although I haven't seen all the episodes. They did a good job. What's more, we got a hug. That's how this episode should've ended dear Kripke!

i think i remember reading when it first came out, that they wanted it to seem like a different show from the live action, and really only wanted dean/sam to be the same

I just bought it! But I'm going to wait to watch it tonight with my husband! I gotta say the epis that i watched online were good although it would have been nice to have both Jensen & Jared voice the entire series. Either way it's going in my SPN collection!

Casey, I would believe that, aside from Dean/Sam nobody looks the same, especially Jessica, Mary and Bobby.

I would have liked Jensen to do all the episodes too, but the actor that does do Dean is pretty good, he didn't try to make Dean all his own, you can hear a lot of Jensen's Dean in there. (that made sense right?)
