I hope Kripke and Co. realize how much we love this actor/character. This should be enough to add him to the Supernatural cast, even if on a recurring basis like Bobby.

^ except Bobby isn't part of the 'main cast'. right now i think Castiel is on the recurring guest character list and he's probably going to stay there. just like Jim has for four years
