Misheard Lyrics #1
I coldnt see this in the thread guide and I know I occassionally mishear a lyric or have heard someone else sing the wrong words to a song and thought it'd be pretty funny.
A girl I used to work with thought the lyrics to REM's "The sidewinder sleeps tonight" included Calling from Jamaica man. as opposed to Call me when you try to wake her up". __________________

Cool thread idea! Misheard lyrics can be really funny!
I'm adding it to the board guide. __________________

Has anyone ever seen those books of misheard lyrics by Gavin Edwards? He had collected a ton of them over the years and compiled them into 'Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy, When a Man Loves a Walnut, and a few other books. Most of the misheard lyrics were hilarious as phrases on their own, but never made much sense to me as actual misheard lyrics -- listening to the song, the lyrics that I heard sounded nothing like the "misheard" version of the lyrics; as funny as "Hold me closer, Tony Danza" is in Elton John's "Tiny Dancer," I always just hear the actual lyrics of "Hold me close now, tiny dancer."
A few of the ones he cites really do sound like the misheard versions, though. For example, in the Steve Miller Band song "Jungle Love," the actual chorus says "Jungle love/It's driving me mad/It's making me crazy"...but I defy you not to hear it now as "Chug-a-lug/You strawberry man/You're making me crazy." Hee. I've done some mishearing of lyrics on my own, but at the moment I'm totally blanking on what those lyrics have been, heh. When I remember any of the funnier ones, I'll post. __________________

The last song that had me singing the wrong words was Miley Cyris - It's the climb, I seemed to hear it as Mystified instead of it's the climb.

I heard one of my friends singing this and I had the most horrible laugh attack, and after I told him he told me that he had seriously never knew that he was singing it wrong. Man I should have put that in a "Remember when..."

Real: Pour some Sugar on Me
My friend goes "Are you listening to Put some sugar on that? The Katy Perry song "Black and Gold" sounds so much more like "Like a Ghost" to me. And the lyrics totally make more sense that way too! __________________

For the longest time I thought in You Oughta Know, the lyric: It's not fair to deny me of the cross I bear that you gave to me Was crossed eyed bear that you gave to me. __________________
