Hey Monday was formed in March 2008 after Cassadee Pope and Mike Gentile's former band Blake broke up. Pope and Gentile wanted to continue playing music and began holding auditions for a new band around their local Florida music scene. Pope and Gentile
quickly recruited rhythm guitarist Alex Lipshaw and drummer Elliot James. Soon afterward they enlisted bassist Michael "Jersey" Moriarty and Hey Monday was formed. They were discovered when Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz
heard one of their demos while he was in the Crush Management office. Wentz wanted to sign them to his label, Decaydance, but Columbia Records was also interested so the band ended up signing a joint deal with both labels. They recorded their debut album, Hold On Tight,
throughout the Summer of 2008 and it released later that Fall on October 7.

Hey Monday spent the beginning of 2010 to finish writing and recording their upcoming album, Beneath It All. On July 23, Cassadee Pope announced that Beneath It All will now be released as a 6 Song EP rather than a full length album.
She also said that a full length album will be out very early next year and they will be touring for a longer period of time. Anyone who previously preordered any Beneath It All package before this announcement was not, and will not be charged for it and will have to re-preorder,
as the package has changed. Hey Monday then played the entire Warped Tour 2010 on the Altec Lancing stage.

Hey Monday performed their single "I Don't Wanna Dance" and another song from their album Beneath It All titled "Wish You Were Here" on Jimmy Kimmel live on September 22, 2010. Although Cassadee Pope and Mike Gentile were the only official members of the band
at the performance the fill-in musicians wore shirts with the absent band member's pictures on them. In The Fall of 2010, Patrick McKenzie became the permanent drummer.

Right after Warped Tour, Hey Monday announced that Jersey would be leaving the band. Chris Gentile has since then been filling in on bass.

On February 8, 2011, Hey Monday released Candles (EP) digitally and released a music video for Candles on March 9th. Hey Monday will be writing and recording their second full-length in the summer.

HEY MONDAY PLAY FIRST SHOW IN 8 YEARS WITH A ROCKET TO THE MOON, MORE - Alternative Press

Here's my compilation. The first two clips are Cass with Nick from AAR singing Swing, Swing & Dirty Little Secret. Then it's Run, Don't Walk, Josey, I Don't Wanna Dance, Homecoming, Candles, and How You Love Me Now.

It was definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm so glad I went! :sigh:

That was a handy time for a new thread, thanks Jess! :high_five:

 hopefully it reignited some HM feelings/plans for them all. :)

I think it definitely got them all thinking about things.

Also, Cass announced she's starting a podcast where she's going to interview all of her old friends from the pop punk world who live in or are willing to travel to the Nashville area. :D

Violent Delights 11-29-2019 07:52 PM

I'll give that a listen, for sure. :)

There was a guy actually filming with a big professional camera so Cass told us that CMT was there filming something. But yeah, I'm surprised that CMT would want to film her Pop Punk night. I would think they would prefer to film her country night.

Violent Delights 12-05-2019 03:07 PM

Well that's cool. Probably a bit of both shows. :)

fictitious ways 12-05-2019 03:17 PM

Yeah, I'm sure we'll see something from them after that show as well. Which I'm kind of disappointed I'm not going to be at. :sigh: Because she's mentioned that they're going to be singing some 90s Country tunes, and that's make favorite era of country.

Violent Delights 12-05-2019 04:30 PM

as long as you get to see it in some form.

Charles Kelly from Lady A came and sang "It's Your Love" with her last night. :sigh:

Violent Delights 12-11-2019 01:56 PM

:D she has good connections.

Cassadee's a red head now. :D

Oh nice, it suits her. :) I remember the blonde streaks back in the day.
