Yellowcard * You're my "Only One"

Welcome to the appreciation thread for the rockin' band, Yellowcard.

They're not quite up to a large fame status yet, but they're on their way. I recently went to a concert they had a few towns away from where I live, and let me just say, they were awesome! They got there an hour late (which sucked) but songs that they played for that last hour were definitely worth waiting in the cold for six hours. They played songs such as "Avondale", "Only One", "View From Heaven", "Something of Value", and "October Nights" amongst others.

After the short but sweet concert, they held an autograph signing. It was so amazing. I met all of them, and they all signed a drum head for me. They're really nice, and they're music is addictive.

Anybody else a Yellowcard fan?

Yellowcard:
Vocals, guitar: Ryan Key
Violin, vocals: Sean Mackin
Guitar: Ben Harper
Drums: Longineu Parsons III
and Alex Lewis
What sets them apart from other bands: Despite being labeled as a "punk rock & emo band", Yellowcard incorporates not only the stereotypical guitar and drums, but also the violin. Many would think that the violin causes the music to turn out horribly, but it, in fact, raises the quality of music that they play.
Albums: One For the Kids (2001), The Underdog LP (2002), Ocean Avenue (2003)

hey hey!
i love yellowcard, they're amazing. i think "breathing" and "empty apartment" are both wonderful songs, among others. i really wish they did their "high school tour" thing in Canada, it would be so awesome to have them perform at my school. i hope this thread works out

sweetvlady Thanks for posting, lol. Finally someone yeah, Empty Apartment is one of my favorite songs off of their new album. On Ocean Avenue, the only one I'm not that fond of is Life Of a Salesman. I think it's good, but I just can't relate to it. The others are fantastic, though.

Something of Value, October Nights, and Avondale are a few of my favorites off of the other two albums. -sigh- Thanks for the good wishes, lol.

I love Yellowcard. I didn't get to catch them the last time they were in town, though. There's always next time, I suppose.
And I'll agree, the only song off Ocean Avenue I don't like too much is "Life Of A Salesman." But I'm partial to "Inside Out" and "One Year, Six Months."

My favorites from their other albums are "Avondale," "October Nights," "Underdog," "Something of Value" and I really like "Rough Draft." -sighs- I don't there is a Yellowcard song that I don't like.

I love Yellowcard. I'm finally going to be able to catch them in April, on my birthday no less.

While I haven't seen them live, a friend of mine ran into them at another concert and had Sean call me. I was shocked to say the least.

I think my favorite YC song at the moment is Fire Water.

Did you guys hear about Alex leaving?

I'm so disappointed in this band right now. I want to cry because I loved these guys and all but after what they did to Alex...I'm not sure anymore. Sounds kind of pathetic but yeah theyre one of my favorite bands EVER ... and I just got really disappointed in the guys after how they turned out to be like.. in this whole Pete/Alex deal. I bought Ocean Avenue a month ago, and I haven't stopped listening to it since. I think that it is one of my favorite cds ever. I hadn't heard about anyone leaving, so that kinda depresses me. Sucks that they couldn't keep it together since they were so good.

nonono. that's not what happened. an old member, bassist to be exact, left some months ago and now he came back, so the band kicked out the other bassist (Alex), which is just so messed up and I hate that they did that.

And Ryan's message on YC's official message board was just.....rude. I lost all respect I may have had for him because he was being a childish prick and basically told all the fans to stop listening to Yellowcard and to F' off if they didn't agree with the decision. really mature huh? riiight.

I love Yellowcard...too much, actually...it's normal that I want to have sex with Ryan's voice right?

Ocean Avenue is phenomenal -- I can't stop listening . And would you look at that...the thread title has my fave song in it...

My fave songs happen to be that one, and "Ocean Avenue" and "Miles Apart", but I dig the whole damn thing really. Thanks for starting the thread Burnination101.

I can see where Ryan's post was coming from in that there were alot of immature people posting things on the board about ehat happened and then saying their Leno performance sucked and just going on and on. I think Ryan may have just reached a breaking point with everyone's judgements on the decision that was for the band to make and not the fans. Not that I agree with what happened, but alot of people were giving the impression that it was solely Ryan who kicked Alex out.

That doesn't really justify Ryan's post. I still think he was being a prick and just really childish & immature. If you're famous, you're going to have to deal with these things and handle these kind of situations differently, you know?

I'm still annoyed by the situation. Not so much that they switched bassists, but how it appears to be handled. It seems like Alex got stabbed in the back, when he's been nothing but dedicated to the band since he was brought in. I can't believe he continued with them even after they made the decision. If that doesn't show dedication, I don't know what does.

Regardless, I'm not going to stop listening to the music over this. And nothing is going to stop me from going to the show with Something Corporate that was just FINALLY announced for April 22 in Indianapolis. Woohoo!
