It was hard to watch, but I guess their was nothing they could do, he wanted to leave.

I think it was more he his movie he was directing (I think) or was it writing, was finally come up ready for production. And that meant Sweets would have disappeared for half the season at least, or more... It had been delayed before, and the show had I think worked in way to keep Sweet, and it hadn't really impacted filming, but then it got delayed. And when finally the start time for the movie came around, it was going to affected the show, so they had to work it out.
So they had to go the way they did. Otherwise I think they would have kept going if they could... I missed him. I remember it was such a shocker. No one knew. BONES really knew how to keep it a surprise. Usually crumbs come out, but this one. And given that it was in the season premier, another rarity. __________________

I don't think he wanted it. I think it was a storyline dictating move given they were at the beginning of the season. And therefore they could use it as a big bang storyline that would drive Booth, who was just coming off being in prison. And it would test him, and both Booth and Brennan as a couple.
Most don't want to be killed off... Because it prevents any possibility of a return visit. Most shows do it for storyline reasons. And in the case, if they had any other way. I don't think Sweets could have gone off unless he quit the FBI, and vanished. But he was so tied now to Booth and Brennan and even Daisy, to think he would just leave... Even if it meant he could come back... But it allowed the show new directions but I wished they could have gone another way. The only way was Sweets surviving the wounds, and being placed in a coma or in rehab. But the way they chose, brought on a lot of storylines... But I still missed him. __________________

I agree. I can't see Sweets just leaving especially since Daisy was having his baby. I know other shows right characters off but it would be out of character for Sweets to leave when people he loved needed him.

It was still tough to watch him die. But I can't see how we would leave Daisy when she was pregnant and leave Booth when it was obvious how much he needed Sweets.
