Caught me by surprise too! And that CAN be good.

~Lisa~ 05-14-2009 02:08 PM

yes the ending was a shock.

totally unexcpected.

just hope they fix it quickly at the start of s5

lancer1993 05-14-2009 02:39 PM

The ending was typical season cliffhanger, I hope they 'fix' it in the first ep back.

Alauda 05-14-2009 03:01 PM

I am curious what everyone else is gonna think who'll watch it tonight.

It really is a good ep. And the ending... well.... sure gets you all 'WTF?'. LOL.

But I am sure it is resolved much easier than everyone thinks. It is not as bad as it is made out to look.

And so many scenes that make you go...... puddle.... LOL

greyocean 05-14-2009 03:32 PM

jkdgkhsfbjdf wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee
:) im still giddy
cause like, whatever way you want to look at it.
spoiler alert? i guess?

they had sex.
and kissed. MULTIPLE TIMES! :)

:):):) and that cliffhanger will probably be resolved like the karaoke cliffhanger. in a matter of moments. but harty still lied.. >=\

lancer1993 05-14-2009 03:48 PM

Feels weird that here I am on the other side of the planet and I saw the final before the majority of the US.

Yeah, me too.
And I feel a little bit guilty about it~~:P

Augusta 05-14-2009 05:19 PM

EEK! I totally almost forgot about this episode tonight! I'm coming in almost 20 minutes into it :( Did I miss anything important? Crap. I need to watch this episode again at some point..

courtneybangelcakes 05-14-2009 05:43 PM

I don't know my thoughts on this episode...it feels wasteful.

CrystalDawn25 05-14-2009 06:07 PM

omg this episode was sad. I did not like the ending of this episode:(

_Nyx_ 05-14-2009 06:22 PM

So disappointed that it was AU... I believed HH. He really should have left it at: "they will be in bed together" rather than say "it is not a hallucination"

But it is such a clever episode script :thud: They managed to put in from:
"You are the moron who goes to jail for a crime he did not commit" (Vincent to Zach) :lmao:
To:
"You mean Angela?... (Sweets)
"No! You don't stand a chance with her!" (Jack)
Or:
Edison C-Synch  he is sooo different from the stuffy and super cool professional intern.
"Everyone thinks I'm Gormogon" (Sweets) :lmao:
I'll have to re-watch it to catch the little meaningful phrases that link AU to the real world.

MR. B & Brenn :thud: If this would have been the reality of FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth & Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan I would have died on the spot. On the upside now I can truly appreciate what type of chemistry these actors have, regardless of what character they play: incredible :thud:

I’ll probably say more once I see it again ;)

roarimaraptor 05-14-2009 06:22 PM

I'm only about 20 minutes into the episode... but I'm confused.

thegaate 05-14-2009 06:25 PM

I have to say i freaking hated this episode not only because it twisted bones in a non entertaining way but because it killed Zach... Zach has been my favorite character for a long time but this episode succeed in not only demeaning him but making him dumb. thanks fox for what could possibly be the worst season finale ever.

P.S Before you ask yes i have seen every single episode and yes i did get all the little comments pretaning to the plot and characters of the normal bones show.

I almost turned it off half way through because i was so bored. only good part was the band gormagon. BTW cam is a TERRIBLE lead actor for bones.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

4x26 The End in the Beginning

Voice Over: People say you only live once, but people are as wrong about that as they are about everything. In the darkest moments before dawn a woman returns to her bed. What life is she leading? Is it the same life the woman was leading a half an hour ago? A day ago? A year ago? Who is this man? Do they lead separate lives or is it a single life shared? A storm approaches. A still over the horizon but there is lightning in the air. Are either of them aware of the gathering turbulence? Can they feel the crackle of electricity in the wind or are they aware in only the power that they generate themselves? The first hint of this storm was not a thunderclap. It is a knock.

Brennan: Do you love me?
Booth: Yeah. Do you want me to prove it to you?
Brennan: Yeah. If you’re not too sleepy.
Booth: Aww … I love when you do that.
But the voiceover is a bit … distracting! I think this is what made it … odd for me. DE were HOT and I can only imagine how much FUN DE had with the scene.
Then the whole you get it ... no you get it ... HA HA HA with them in bed and him using her robe and her using his robe!

KINDA am enjoying this alternate reality. Brennan and Booth own The Lab nightclub. Cam and Jared are investigators, all the interns work with Brennan at the nightclub. Booth was in the army and had seen plenty of bodies, Brennan hadn’t seen one yet. And Max Kennan is a councilman. And Sweets is a bartender! Ha ha. And they are calling him Mr B and Brens …
Booth: Come on, let’s go honey.

Ha ha ha at the ‘interns’ and how Zach screamed when he saw the body so he’s off the hook right and he screamed like ****ty girl #1 on a teen horror flick! Ha ha.

Max: And why is it so hard for your husband to see the ways of the world?
Brennan: Because he wants me to be proud of him.
And the SMILES

Brennan: I had a very satisfying go round with my husband at 5am, where were you?

Brennan: Cam says everybody thinks I’m a cold fish.
Booth: What you are is Iceland. Cool to the touch but underneath all volcano!
They laugh. SO CUTE.
Brennan: I don’t like people thinking that I’m a cold fish.
Booth: Look, If you were really a cold fish, you wouldn’t care.
Brennan: You used logic on me, that’s sweet.
Awwww she touched his neck.
Brennan: Cam says the reason I didn’t hear the gunshot is because I’m cheating on you.
Booth: Ah, well Jared thinks you know I’m the killer and he’s helping me get away with it.
Brennan: So you’re a murderer? I’m unfaithful, we are a very exciting couple.
Booth: Except the real reason you didn’t hear anything is that the gunshot was muffled.

Then when they answered Caroline’s call “ hello, you’ve reached Bonnie and Clyde, murder incorporated, how can we help you?”
:lmao:

Sweets and Jack are hilarious … the hired hand.
Clark: The stage has mystic properties!
Oh Clark Clark Clark ... so freaking hilarious!
Brennan: We will discuss it, since we are partners.
And the LOOKS Booth (Mr B) keeps giving her. Very sexy.

Booth: Well, my nightclub is not for sale. But my booze is. So either get a drink or get the hell out of here.
Awww tough guy Booth!

Mr B allows Sweets’ band to audition.
Brennan: You’re made of soft spots.
Awwwww

Brennan: I’m not a cold fish. I’m Iceland!
ooooooo

And ha ha ha … Max Kennan likes to say he works for the Grave Digger. And he still has no principles! This is cute.

Sweets: Hey, so uh .. we’re Gorgomon. I mean the name of the band is Gormogon. Some people think that I’m Gorgomon, but I’m not. It’s like there’s no one named Floyd in Pink Floyd.
Booth: Just play Sweets
Brennan: Gorgomon is a stupid name. What does it even mean?
This whole eppy is so funny

Booth: Sweets, why don’t you play another song for the girl there?
Daisy was so smitten by his playing and singing. And Brens was enjoying it too!
Ha!

Birimbau is Clark’s brother! :lmao:
Booth: Hi honey.
Brennan: You okay?
Booth: You should see the other guy.

Angela: It’s Daisy so they discussed sex.
Daisy: That’s mostly true!
She’s unabashed about noise!
Ha ha ha
Daisy: We should do everything we could to impede the investigation. Was that wrong? It felt right.

And I love how Zach and Sweets were covering for Brenns and Mr B afraid they were murderers!
<Walk into bedroom undressing/changing>
Brennan: Zach and Sweets found my belt and corduroy coat and burned it because it had a bullet hole in it.
Booth: Are you serious?
Brennan: Yeah, they figured that you bashed his head against the wall and then I shot him.
Booth: Should I be upset that everyone thinks we’re murderers, or just happy that everyone’s trying to help us get away with it?
Brennan: You should recognize that everything they do to help makes us look more guilty. Especially you.
Booth: Why me?
Brennan: Because you are strong enough to smash his head into the wall and I’m not.
Booth: Oh, so are we having some doubts?
Brennan: Not about anything important.
<walks over to him to fix tie>
Brennan: Here
<kiss>
This was soooo cute. Their smiles. He hugged her. Awwww

And Mr B slugs Jared for accusing Brens of cheating. He’s so believing in Brens.

And Booth and Brennan in their concert wear, and that conversation.
Booth: Yeah, I feel like if the energy was bad between the two of us, I’d know. Same way that you would know that I couldn’t murder someone.
Brennan: I believe you would murder someone for me. And I believe you’d lie about it so I wouldn’t have to carry that burden.
Their smiles again! Awww

Brennan: How did you convince them to leave CrueFest and appear here tonight?
Booth: A benefit for the kids.
Brennan: We’re doing a benefit for sick kids? Awww.
She kisses him. THEIR SMILES!

Brennan: I’m glad we’re nightclub owners and night crime solvers.
Booth: I know who did it.
Brennan: So do I.

Booth: When did you realize it wasn’t me?
Brennan: You would kill for me, I know that but whoever did this knocked him out and went and got my coat before executing him, you would never do that. Jared is different.
Booth: My brother killed a man to save my wife. What are we going to do?
Brennan: Do? Thank him and shut up.
Booth: Bren, this is murder.
Brennan: It’s more like a rescue.
Booth: Everything is just so clear to you.
Brennan: It is this time.
Booth: I don’t think I can live with this.

And Brennan saving the day by getting the gun from Jared. Aww, sweet. She saved Booth’s brother’s life.

Then BB are back up watching the Crue … in their pretty concert wear. And Zach is counting the crowd and Clark is jamming out. And Daisy is dancing.

Voice Over: When you love someone, you open yourself up to suffering. That’s the sad truth. Maybe they’ll break your heart. Maybe you’ll break their heart and never be able to look at yourself in the same way. Those are the risks.

Brennan: Plus I have another confession.
Booth: What?
Voice Over: You see two people and you think they belong together, but nothing happens.
Brennan crawls in his lap.
Brennan: Well, you know that glass of wine that we share every night?
Booth: Yeah?
Brennan: I have to stop that.
Booth: Aw, come on, Bren, just because you have one glass of wine every night with your husband doesn’t mean you’re an alcoholic.
Brennan: That’s not why.
Booth: No? <laughs> Yeah? You are pregnant? <kiss> This little baby boy.
Brennan: Or girl.
Voice Over: The thought of loosing so much control over personal happiness is unbearable. That’s the burden. Like wings. They have weight. We feel that weight on our backs, but they are a burden that lifts us. Burdens which allow us to fly.

Blends from Voice Over to Brennan typing on her laptop and reading those lines to Booth in the hospital bed. Brennan hits delete. (This is what was written on the laptop) "You love someone, you open yourself up to suffering, that's the sad truth. Maybe they'll break your heart, maybe you'll break their heart and never be able to look at yourself in the same way. Those are the risks. That's the burden. Like wings, they have weight, we feel that weight on our backs, but they are a burden that lifts us. Burdens that allow us to fly."

Booth: Such a weird dream.
Brennan: Booth? Booth? You’re awake!
Booth: So real.
Brennan: You’re operation was a success, but you reacted poorly to the anesthesia. You’ve been in a coma for four days. What took you so long to wake up?
Booth: It felt so real.
Brennan: It wasn’t real.
Booth: Who are you?

 to all those disappointed. I understand everyoone has different interests and aspects and thoughts for the show. And I respect that.

Hot Rod 05-14-2009 07:30 PM

I caught the season finale earlier this evening and have mixed feelings about it.

I enjoyed the whole AU where Booth and Bones are married club owners with the Lab being the club. It was fun seeing them in a different light, but at the same time, still having their personalities.

Sweets stole the show as a bartender. All of his scenes were very funny, especially the band tryout.

The only negatives i saw was the dumbing down of Zack and the ending. I hate that Booth doesn`t remember Bones. :( However the positive about it is that there will be a lot of angst with Bones trying to get Booth to remember her. Plus there`s always the possibilities of Bones saying those three magic words. So lets not give up hope fellow Booth/Bones shippers.

JJ4EVER 05-14-2009 07:36 PM

Are there any west coasters like me who can hardly stand the 25 more minutes there are until it airs?! lol.

I kind of agree, I didn't enjoy this and I too was bored through out most of it. I did think the twist of her writing the story was a good one as I was convinced it was booth dreaming. But after the emotional ending of the last episode, I just so much more wanted to see more of that story. I wouldn't have been fine with not having B&B in bed together. I mean, I think it is pretty obvious that they love each other and some day, they will end up together, but I don't want that to happen just to make the shippers happy in a lame scenario.

Acting is good as usual, and the chemistry between the 2 of this is always good.

But still all in all, the episode was weak, not worthy of a finale and totally a waste of their first physical contact.

amy2345 05-14-2009 07:45 PM

 I know I was very disappointed by the ending myself. Damn.

Augusta 05-14-2009 08:07 PM

I actually missed it... is it up online yet?

JJ4EVER 05-14-2009 09:27 PM

HOLY CRAP. It's so sad that the last two minutes was more exciting than the rest of the episode, but OMG! The ending almost made up for how sucky the episode was. Brennan deleting the stuff was sad - are we supposed to assume that she also wrote his dream, or just the parts that Hodgins said in the voice over? Either way, it was sad, but especially so if the pregnancy and stuff was stuff she wrote that she deleted. Emily Deschanel did so well in that scene, I know I made a comment awhile ago about how her acting has gotten polarized, but regardless, you could see how truly concerned she was about Booth once he woke up.

AND HOLY CLIFFHANGER, BATMAN! I mean, come on, they're not going to do that, because that would be the end of the show. Although... technically they COULD have it where it like, skips forward a year and he goes through therapy and whatnot and redoes his agent training and the FBI takes him back and he gets paired up with Bones and they... being their relationship all over again?! WAIT WHAT. NO WAY! NO WAY! Not after four seasons! Unless they're absolutely sure they'll be on at least four seasons, which they're not, there's just no way! Ooooh, I'll be so pissed!! Now I get where the whole "bad fanfiction" thing came from.

I don't know... I get why people are upset. I get that they did the AU thing to be like "Ok, just to let you know, we DO know that they'd be together by now if they weren't partners", but still. I think a lot of people who were spoiled were expecting so much more since we were told that it wouldn't be a hallucination and WOULDN'T be a dream (although technically, it could really NOT have been a dream, it could have been what Brennan was writing and Booth was talking about some other thing that was a dream, but I don't think that's likely), most people had high hopes that them getting together would be real, and they feel like they've been cheated, in a way. I don't feel like that really, but I understand how one could feel like that. I mean, I'm fine with them not being together yet, I've liked the direction they've been heading in, they've been connecting emotionally so deeply, especially with this latest crisis, and that's another reason I'll be furious if his memory loss is permanent and they have to start over again.

Overall, it was a "meh" episode. The AU thing was pretty boring, with the exception of AU!BB sex and AU!BB getting pregnant.

Maria102375 05-14-2009 09:45 PM

I have to say that I was toatally dissappointed with this season finale. I too almost turned it off halfway through buti figured that I should give the entire episode a chance and I have to go with my original thoughts/ I HATED IT!!!

These liars that tell us that the sleeping together is not going to be a dream..
and at the end when Booth can't remember her.? WTF? This was a cute episode that should have been shown mid-year, not for the season finale...

lancer1993 05-14-2009 10:26 PM

ITA with the mid-season thing, it's not a season final and the "Who are you?" that's just a kick in the gut to the fans!

LemurBean 05-14-2009 11:11 PM

The End in the Beginning – An Over-analysis
AKA
Invertebrate Zoology is boring.

Under the assumption that everything which happened and all that was said was not random, these are my thoughts.

Voiceover analysis

“People say that you only live once, but people are as wrong about that as they are about everything. In the darkest moments before dawn, a woman returns to her bed. What life is she leading? Is it the same life she was leading half an hour ago? A day ago? A year ago? Who is this man? Do they lead single lives, or a single life shared?”

The last part is obviously about Booth, Brennan and their symbiotic relationship. The day/year could be a reference to perhaps Critic, then Wannabe/Pain. The comment about “only one life to live” could be a direct reference to the fact that this is AU – Brennan and Booth are technically living a second life.

“A storm approaches. It’s still over the horizon, but there’s lightening in the air. Are either of them aware of the gathering turbulence? Can they feel the crackle of electricity in the wind? Or are they only aware of the power they generate between themselves? The first hint of the storm is not a thunderclap, but a knock.”

On the first level, this could be directly correlated to the AU storyline. “A storm” was approaching, the death of the man in the nightclub and the corresponding ramifications, for both Booth and Brennan. However, it could also be a metaphor for the Booth/Brennan relationship, the storm approaching being them finally becoming a romantic couple, while the “electricity” could be another word for the chemistry that it shared between them, that us as viewers see, while the “power” could represent what they see between themselves, the comfort and friendship and partnership they have currently in real life.

It could also be a rather intense sexual metaphor, but lets not go there, shall we?

“Violent death, murder, it sends out shockwaves. The closer you are to it, the greater the shock.”

This could be analysed on two levels. On the first and possibly most basic, is about the case in the AU world. Brennan and Booth, unused to murder cases, are close to the case in point (being owners of the club) and hence are feeling the shockwaves emanating from it. The second could be a reference to Pain in the Heart and the Gormogon arc. Both Booth and Brennan were very close to that case, and hence would have felt the brunt of the shockwaves radiating from it.

“If you love someone, you open yourself up to suffering. That is the sad truth. Maybe they’ll break your heart, or you’ll break their heart and you’ll never be able to look at yourself the same way. Those are the risks.”

This could be about Booth and Brennan. She is ready to take that risk, to open herself, to him (metaphorically!) and to take the risk of a broken heart – because she loves him and is suffering because he is not there with her when she needs him.

It could also be another reference to Pain in the Heart/Gormogon. Brennan loved Zack almost like a son, and he broke her heart by being in leagues with Gormogon. She opened her heart to him, by allowing him into her family and he betrayed her.

“You see two people, they belong together, but nothing happens. The thought of losing so much control over personal happiness is unbearable, like wings. They have weight. We feel that weight on our backs, but they are a burden that lifts us. Burdens that allow us to fly.”

Personally, I think the first line is a bit of a shout-out to the B&B shippers. We’re waiting, Hart, not patiently either. However, it is also, quite obviously, about Brennan and Booth. Although Booth coming into her life changed her, she feels it has changed her for the better. Her love for Booth (and it is love!) has given her a burden to carry, the burden of losing control, of losing her happiness because of him, but that burden has allowed her to fly, it’s allowed her to become someone different, someone better than who she was previously. By allowing Booth in, and him allowing her in, they have become better people.

References to other episodes

Con Man in the Meth Lab – “They bust up and you finally get a shot at her. That’s what you want, right?”

Season 4 as a whole – “Kind of a cold fish”

Yanks in the UK – “I’m English, we don’t use guns, we head butt people”

Man in the Cell – “Anyone touch it?” “Zack”

Aliens/Hero – Max about the cellphones: “Big Brother always knows where you are”

Gormogon – “…to use the word ‘gnaw’ so aggressively”

Pain in the Heart/Gormogon – “Some people think I’m Gormogon, I’m not”

Woman in the Garden – “Angry gangbanger in an alley”

Man in the Wall – “I’ve been here before”

Gravedigger/Hero/Thomas Vega in Aliens – “You tell the Gravedigger, unless he’s willing to kill me, it’s over. Oh. One more thing. If anything happens to my wife, it’s you I’m coming after”

Hero in the Hold – “You helped us, now please let us help you”

Critic in the Cabernet – The pregnancy thing

Hero in the Hold/Beaver in the Otter – (About Jared) “He’s going to walk”

Aliens in a Spaceship – “I told him if he doesn’t leave us alone, I’d kill him”

Pain/The Perfect Pieces – “You’re the type of moron who goes to jail for a murder he didn’t commit”

Perfect Pieces – “So you two conspired to keep this big secret from us?”

Booth and Brennan metaphors

“Why is it so difficult for your husband to see the ways of the world?”
“Because he wants me to be proud of him”

Booth wants Brennan to be proud of him in real life. He wants her to think of him as a good man – regardless of the ‘ways of the world’. Brennan’s opinion of him matters more to him than he is probably willing to admit.

“A storm approaches. It’s still over the horizon, but there’s lightening in the air. Are tiehr of them aware of the gathering turbulence? Can they feel the electricity in the air? Or are they only aware of the power they generate between themselves?”

Discussed previously, but this also asks whether either Brennan or Booth is fully aware of the love between them. Are they only seeing the power, or do they see the sparks ready to ignite?

“We’ll discuss it – since we’re partners”

A direct reference to real life B&B, who are partners in almost every sense of the word.

“People know the best way to hurt him…”
“…Is to hurt you”

This is true of both AU B&B and Real B&B. People have used this against them in the past, most noticeably in Hero in the Hold where the Gravedigger took Booth, specifically because he/she knew that Brennan would do anything to get him back. If this is Booth’s coma dream, then it could lead to something deeper. His fear of stepping over his line (Man in the Cell) could be popping up again. Perhaps, deep down, he feels that if he does not take that step, he doesn’t risk her in that way and is using that as an excuse.

“You don’t see it because you don’t use your head. You believe in what you can feel.”

Jared, Booth’s alter-ego (at least in my world..) is telling Booth that he’s not seeing what is right in front of him. We know from previous episodes that Booth has almost an inferiority complex, shown noticeably in Con Man in the Meth Lab and Science in the Physicist. He, perhaps, feels that he is not worthy of her love because he isn’t a perfect guy, he’s battered and he’s bruised and he’s been through a lot. However, Jared is saying that he should rely on his head, he should see his relationship with Brennan for what it is, true love, as opposed to always feeling that he could never do right by her and therefore should not take that chance.

It could also be non-AU-Booth trying to tell him that what he’s feeling isn’t right or true, that this isn’t actually a real reality.

“That’s what they do – drive wedges.”
“It wouldn’t be irrational to think I was having an affair.”
“I’d feel it. If the energy was bad between the two of us. I’d know. Same that you would know I couldn’t murder someone.”
“I believe you would murder someone for me, and I believe you would lie so I wouldn’t have to carry that burden.”

Booth – real or AU – would kill for Brennan, but he wouldn’t murder, a distinction that Booth grasps, but perhaps Brennan doesn’t yet. However, Booth still relies on his gut, and his gut is telling him that she is faithful to him. He trusts in that more than his head (quite rightly, if his head is producing cartoon babies out of thin air) and he trusts in Brennan.

“You would kill for me, I know that (then there was an explanation of what happened, which I didn’t quite catch). You would never do that. Jared is different”
“My brother killed a man to save my wife. What are we going to do?”

Brennan directly compares Jared and Booth. Like in Con Man, Booth comes out as the better man. He is the man with morals, regardless of the situation. Booth is the Booth that she wants to be with, that she regards more highly, while Jared sacrificed himself (metaphorically) to save both Booth and Brennan, Booth from having to murder someone and Brennan from being hurt. There is a parallel here to Hero in the Hold, where he also sacrificed himself to save the pair.

“If you love someone, you open yourself up to suffering. That’s the sad truth. Maybe they’ll break your heart, maybe you’ll break their heart and you’ll never be able to look at yourself the same way. Those are the risks.”

As described above, this is Brennan thinking about her relationship with Booth. Although there are risks, and high stakes and everything to lose, it is worth it because it’s love.

“You see two people, they belong together but nothing happens. The thought of losing so much control over personal happiness is unbearable, like wings. They have weight. We feel that weight on our backs, but they are a burden that lifts us. Burdens that allow us to fly.”

As discussed above, a direct discussion about Brennan’s relationship with Booth from her point of view. She has decided that losing control, and taking that risk and stepping over that line is worth it, because in return, she receives Booth’s love and gives her love in return, and metaphorically, regardless of the burden it entails, it allows them both to fly.

Discussion about Booth’s character

Jared, to me, was a Booth (trust me, this gets confusing, I never thought I’d say it, but too many Booths!). Through the entire episode, he affects Booth’s mannerisms, such as the hands on the hips. He even dresses like Booth. I thought this was shown most prominently in the scene at the diner. Jared looked like Booth would, while Booth looked…like AU Booth, with what were quite possibly, the ugliest shoes in existence. Jared even wore Booth’s cocky belt buckle, which led me to believe that we aren’t seeing Jared and Booth, we’re seeing two halves of Booth.

Jared represents Booth as he sees himself, as a cop and as a person, while Booth is who Booth, subconsciously wants to be. He is a free agent, with Brennan on his arm, who has nothing to do with death or destruction. He is successful, well-liked and respected, while keeping his moral integrity.

“You don’t see it because you don’t use your head. You think everything you feel is true” / “You need to grow up”

Jared, ie Booth as he sees himself, feels that Booth-as-he-wants-to-be needs to grow up. Booth cannot be a totally free agent, as he wants to be. He is still tied down by his more rational side and the part of him who is an agent and a Ranger, regardless of how much he wants to free himself from it. However, with that side comes his wisdom and his rationality. However, in Jared, he is also seeing the parts of himself that he doesn’t like, the working for the Gravedigger, withholding evidence and he’s beginning to believe that what he is sees himself as isn’t really what he’s like.

“I believe you would murder someone for me. And I believe you would lie about it so I wouldn’t have to carry that burden.”

“You would kill for me, I know that……you would not do that. Jared is different”

Booth has stated before that he has killed, never murdered. I believe, and I believe he believes that he would kill for Brennan if he had to. However, I also believe that Booth is worried that he may murder to prevent anything happening to his family (be it Jared, Parker or his squints) and he doesn’t like the side of himself that he currently is as much as he originally thought.

“You have helped us. Now please let us help you.”

Brennan is speaking to Jared as if Jared was one half of Booth, the part of Booth that Booth himself sees. Brennan wants to help him find himself, and to be at peace with who he is, which is a mix of the man he believes himself to be, the cop, the protector and the man who would do anything and everything to protect the people he loves, and the man with morals, and with a good heart who values human life over everything, even after the things he has seen.

“You see two people, they belong together, but nothing happens. The thought of losing so much control over personal happiness is unbearable, like wings. They have weight. We feel that weight on our backs, but they are a burden that lifts us. Burdens that allow us to fly.”

This is Brennan, about her and (real) Booth from her point of view. She feels that her love for Booth is a burden which impacts on her in ways she hadn’t realised previously. Booth is a good man, and has allowed her to become a better version of herself. He has introduced her to the world at large, and he has convinced her to love again, and especially to love him.
