The official fb page hasn't been updated since May so I assume the production got pushed back.

Hahaha, we both were kind of slacking on it! I didn't notice it had happened either.

I'm really interested to see what happens with Maudie though for sure.

Jason Reitman has 5 projects in development according to IMDB. Why hasn't he cast Rachel in one of his films yet imho. I hope he's just waiting for the perfect role or something. Grrr...

The Boston Globe's political editor, Cynthia Needham just posted the below tweet:

Quote:
Film production crew now in the @BostonGlobe newsroom w/ paint swatches to match color of our drab beige cubicles for the Spotlight movie.
Sounds like pre-production is well underway! And good to see how much effort they're going to in order to get the detail authentic for this!

I was also browsing the Open Road Films' website, and it seems that they post all of their press releases there. They update it regularly, so I wouldn't be surprised if an announcement is made on their before shooting begins (although this may still be first announced via one of the major trades first). As an example, Open Road announced in January 2014 that it was distributing ROCK THE KASBAH, and in that press release, confirmed that shooting would begin in June. The release date of the film was also announced on the website only a week or so ago. Let's hope we get confirmation of Rachel's official involvement sometime soon!

Thanks for sharing the link Nick! And I agree, I hope they will officially confirm the cast soon.

It was announced that Lake Bell will direct 'The Emperor's Children'. Rachel was attached to this project a few years ago when Scott Cooper was set to direct alongside Richard Gere, Keira Knightley, and Emma Thompson.
Quote:
After making her directing debut with In A World, Lake Bell will take her sophomore turn behind the camera with The Emperor’s Children for Imagine Entertainment. Noah Baumbach adapted the script from Claire Messud’s 2006 book about three friends in their early thirties living in NYC in the months leading up to September 11, 2001. Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins are producing for Imagine.

I assume Rachel is not attached for this anymore but who knows. She never worked with a female director before so that would be interesting to see.

The Hollywood Report just posted this article about a possible new edition to the Spotlight casting:

Quote:
Billy Crudup in Talks for Catholic Church Sex Abuse Scandal Film 'Spotlight' (Exclusive)
The film chronicles the decades-long cover-up of pedophile priests in Massachusetts

Billy Crudup is in talks to join Participant Media's Catholic Church sex abuse scandal film Spotlight.

Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber and Stanley Tucci have already boarded the ensemble drama.

Based on a true story, the film chronicles the Catholic Church's decades-long cover-up of pedophile priests in Massachusetts that came to light thanks to a yearlong investigation by The Boston Globe. Tom McCarthy (Win Win) is directing from a screenplay written by Josh Singer.

Crudup would play Eric MacLeish, the lead attorney for the victims. Ruffalo and McAdams are set to play reporters. Tucci will portray attorney Mitchell Garabedian. Keaton is onboard to tackle Spotlight Team editor Walter "Robby" Robinson, while Schreiber is set as then-Globe editor Marty Baron.

Participant is financing the film, which is being produced by Michael Sugar and Steve Golin of Anonymous Content and Rocklin/Faust's Nicole Rocklin and Blye Faust. Open Road will distribute in the United States. eOne is taking international sales rights and will distribute in its territories. The project had been set up at DreamWorks, but the studio quietly exited the project last year.

David Mizner is serving as a consultant and associate producer, while Jonathan King and Jeff Skoll are executive producing.

The movie tells of how the Globe's "Spotlight Team" reporters spent a year interviewing victims and reviewing thousands of pages of documents and discovered years of cover-ups by Church leadership. Their reporting eventually led to the resignation of Cardinal Bernard Law, who had hidden years of serial abuse by other priests, and opened the floodgates to revelations of molestation and similar cover-ups worldwide.

The Globe team won the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service "for its courageous, comprehensive coverage of sexual abuse by priests, an effort that pierced secrecy; stirred local, national and international reaction; and produced changes in the Roman Catholic Church."

Crudup is no stranger to playing real-life characters, having portrayed J. Edgar Hoover in Public Enemies and Steve Prefontaine in Without Limits. He is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment.
Remember this from an About Time press junket interview last year?:

Thanks for the news Nick! THR makes it sound like Rachel and the rest of the cast signed on already so I hope this is the case.

I kind of forgot about all the film festival markets until now but I hope another Rachel project will be announced or maybe Spotlight will be confirmed at the TIFF market?

Nick pointed this out to me but Masanobu Takayanagi will be the DoP/cinematographer of Spotlight. He was added to the IMDB page of the movie His recent credits include Silver Linings Playbook and The Grey.

EDIT: A toronto/canada based paparazzo tweeted the following:
Quote:
Rachel McAdams will film Spotlight this fall in Toronto The film also stars Mark Ruffalo, Liev Schreiber, Michael Keaton, and Aaron Eckhart
https://twitter.com/seansmovies/stat...68312594546688
He has photographed Rachel out & about many times before and often has the 'exclusives' of on set photos of movies shooting in Toronto/Vancouver/Canada
