Those shoes she wore yesterday are to die for! They are so beautiful. It said on Daily Mail that her Prada dress was custom made. It looked perfect on her and fit like a glove.

EDIT: Just noticed Amy Kaufman's (LA Times) reply to that tweet:

She is so lovely and perfect and I'm obsessed with basically every single look thus far.

New York Times published an article about Rachel's award season fashion:

Quote:
Rachel McAdams, 37, is perhaps best known for her lead roles in lighthearted films like “Mean Girls” and “The Notebook,” yet she’s tackled meatier fare recently: as a boxer’s doomed wife in “Southpaw” and a hard-hitting reporter in “Spotlight,” for which she has been nominated for her first Academy Award.

Unlike her contemporary Rooney Mara, who has virtually patented a pallid modern Goth style, Ms. McAdams, who works with Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn (both stylists declined to comment), has no signature look.

“Actresses these days think a lot about image, and in a way it’s playing it safe,” said Merle Ginsberg, a senior style writer at The Hollywood Reporter. “The fact that Rachel does what she wants goes against the grain.”

This does not mean she’s indifferent to the latest thing. “The reason she is all over the board is probably because she does care about fashion, a lot, and she’s having fun with it,” Ms. Ginsberg said. “Some of her looks are very, very fashion-forward.”

This is a great article! Thanks Lindsey! I loved reading this.

As a fan, I would say that Rachel has a signature style of her own. Maybe not as "signature" as Jennifer Lopez's but her outfits during promotional tours are more likely to be cute, feminine dresses highligting her waist line. And sometimes her legs and abs in case of the black dress she wore at Southpaw premiere As for award shows, it looks like she likes to wear big, old Hollywood dresses - i.e. Oscars 2010 and 2016 Award season.

Then again, I like how the article emphasizes that she's doing what she likes unlike the other actresses

I do agree that she tends to emphasize her waistline, but other than that I think she's all over the place! She's about pantsuits and feminine dresses and big gowns and when she's not on the carpet she's all yoga pants and jeans and baggy sundresses and t-shirts and I just ADORE it.

I agree with you guys, I do think Rachel has a certain fashion style or at least a certain kind of look that she seems to prefer. I also get what the article is saying tho, she does seem to wear what she likes at that moment and she also likes to mix it up and change looks (for example, a more romantic look vs. a more edgy look) while other actress clearly go for one look.

I like this sentence "The fact that Rachel does what she wants goes against the grain." - because I think this is a recurring theme in Rachel's career. I see it as something positive. This reminds me of the "all for me" quote from an interview she did a few years ago:
Quote:
Will she follow the model often espoused by her Hollywood counterparts, where they shoot one movie for the system (read: pay cheque) and one movie, a personal movie, for them? She looks aghast. Genuinely so. As if the thought had never crossed her mind. “But they are all —” she says, with the confidence of an actor who’s in it for the long haul, “they are all for me.

And that's what I love so much about Rachel-- she does pretty much everything she does for herself. She goes home for herself and on vacation and skips premieres and all that. It's frustrating for us sometimes, but she is always doing things for herself and not for anyone else!

Completely agree with both of you. I love that she's been so independent and not bowed down to the mainstream flow of the industry in her movie choices as well as in fashion. It's very refreshing that the media finally seems to accept and appreciate that side of her. She does what she wants and she does it only for herself even if she ends up getting criticized for it which she doesn't seem to care Like I said, I think she usually has a feminine style but she's always up for a change - like that red pantsuit she wore at Southpaw premiere or the black one at Gotham Awards. I really appreciate it because she always looks so good in those dresses with feminine cuts. Not a lot of people would be willing to take any risks when they look that good

By the way, now that Amanda's mentioned it, I realized how much I missed seeing her in her casual sundresses on daily sightings

Can't wait to see what she will wear to the Oscars. This is fun, some sites are predicting her Oscar dress:

I'm so excited about this, Lindsey And not just about the dress - I can't wait to see her hair style too I saw a red sheer Oscar de la Renta dress embellished with sequin flowers, someone wrote on Twitter that she might wear that one but I thought it was very similar to the Valentino one she wore at TIFF premiere of Spotlight. The only difference was that it was red. So I hope not! I like the idea of her wearing red though

I didn't like any of the dresses these articles suggested. What do you suppose she will wear? Something similar to the ones she has worn before or something totally new? I think I prefer something new even thought it might be a little risky but we already know that she's going to carry everything she wears so well

EDIT: How about this Zuhair Murad one? I think I like it but it's quite brave, don't you think?

Oh man, I would LOVE it if she wore that! I definitely anticipate a gown fit for royalty, but I guess we'll see!

Rachel on Vanity Fair's What the 2016 Nominees Wore to Their First Oscars

Quote:
Rachel McAdams—2006 vs. 2016
In 2006, McAdams hosted the Scientific and Technical Awards Ceremony, accessorizing her yellow beaded Miu Miu gown with then-boyfriend Ryan Gosling. McAdams attended her first main Oscars ceremony in 2010 to co-present the adapted-screenplay award with Jake Gyllenhaal, in a flowing Elie Saab couture gown. McAdams joked backstage that Gyllenhaal was mad about the volume of her skirts. “I was so nervous for her and for me that she would fall and I wouldn’t catch her,” Gyllenhaal said. “Or I would fall and she would keep walking.” This year, McAdams will walk the red carpet as a nominee for her great work in Spotlight, and if a Gyllenhaal or two trips on her train, she should probably just keep walking.

She looks so gorgeous! Thanks for the photos Lindsey. I loved the dress and I can't believe how fit she looks!
But is it me or did she change her hair color to a lighter shade of blonde, more like platinium blonde? It's clearly different than her hair color in the Oscars Luncheon? There was a photo of her with Kayleen and Kayleen's color looks like a much darker blonde whereas Rachel's looks a bit like her color in Married Life, doesn't it?
