SOOO happy for her (and for me!) I think this will be amazing for her career, a challenging and edgier role that will introduce a new side of her to a huge audience. She is so talented and I'm just excited for more people to see that. Plus, with Colin and Taylor, they officially make up the most beautiful cast I can think of! Hoping for lots of promo, awards, and premieres. I am just so excited!!

This news is worthy of a post. I haven't been on in a while but came back to say this is a really great step for Rachel's career. Since MG flopped commercially, she's been relegated to wife/girlfriend roles. This is a game-changer. I'm excited for her and all of us as fans!

amanda s. 11-26-2014 05:23 PM

Ahhh, you said it so well! I agree, I'm SO excited for her career starting in 2015!!

Article from indiewire on why Rachel 'needs' True Detective:
Quote:

When fans think of Rachel McAdams, there are probably only a handful of movies that come to mind: "The Notebook." "Wedding Crashers." "Mean Girls." "The Vow." "Sherlock Holmes," maybe. While all of these films have been huge hits for the (still only) 35-year-old actress, her latest films have been less successful financially, even if they're bolder moves creatively.

After "The Vow" launched her -- but more so Channing Tatum -- back into A-list status, McAdams went full art house. Brian De Palma's "Passion" and Terrence Malick's "To the Wonder" both landed in 2012, the same year as her Valentine's Day studio release, but neither earned her the recognition she, arguably, deserved. Both films didn't make a dent at the box office, and then her next starring turn tanked, as well.

I mean. It's pretty true though.

I think this might be TD related:
Quote:

Okay so I just met my moms step sons brother in law not knowing he is famous. He plays in a show with Rachel McAdams & I never knew.

EDIT: Variety is mentioning Rachel and her TD in their 'Oscars: Where’s the Competition in the Actress Categories?' article:
Quote:

This shift has dramatic repercussion on the careers of all actresses. It used to be that leading ladies retired out of the film industry after they entered their mid-40s. Now it’s happening earlier and earlier. Rachel McAdams, who was once next in line for Julia Roberts’ job, just made the leap to TV with the next season of “True Detective.” Katie Holmes recently told the LA Times that she’d too consider a primetime series, joining the like of Claire Danes and Viola Davis, both of whom should be movie stars. Even Julia Roberts isn’t really making movies as Julia Roberts anymore. Her only role this year was as an AIDs nurse in the HBO adaptation of “A Normal Heart.”
