Kristen Bell and Kathy Bates are among those set to be honored at this year's Women Making History Awards in Los Angeles. The seventh annual ceremony, hosted by the National Women's History Museum (NWHM) and its Los Angeles Regional Council, commemorates inspiring women who are making significant field-related and global contributions.
Beyond their acting careers, Bates currently serves as a spokesperson for the Lymphatic Education and Research Network, while Bell is a co-founder of the social enterprise group This Bar Saves Lives, a granola bar company that works to end childhood malnutrition worldwide. Most recently, the Good Place star joined efforts with Immigrant Families Together and donated the final $4,457 needed to post a detained mother's bond and help reunite her with her children.
In addition to her fellow actress co-honorees, Union has been involved with several breast health and sexual violence prevention initiatives. As for Cullors, she will be recognized in part for serving as co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Global Network and founder of the L.A.-based grassroots organization Dignity and Power Now.
