=) They probably thought that they would eventually enjoy spending time together if they pretended that they weren't feeling awkward and bored. They just had to give themselves time to get there.

It's a shame that they didn't get a chance to spend more time together.

It breaks my heart that Shawn and Jack lost Chet before they could really be a family. They all must have thought that they had more time to be a family, so they kept putting it off.

It always breaks my heart when I think about how Chet passing away crushed Shawn and Jack. It was obvious how much they wished they had gotten to spend more time with him before he passed away.

^ Oh, yeah. I wish we had gotten to see that Shawn and Jack's shared grief over losing Chet had brought them closer, like if Shawn and Jack had shared the stories that they had about Chet. It would have given them a chance to find out more about Chet, which would have helped them grieve and heal from their loss.

Definitely, we saw them trying in that first ep after Chet died, but then, after that, we didn't get anything of them grieving together

^ That's true. Nobody understood Shawn's grief like Jack did, and nobody understood Jack's grief like Shawn did. They both needed to take the time to grieve so that they could heal, bond and grow together as brother.
