Yeah well it's definitely been a lot more complicated she's had to deal with than the rest of her friends
 She's learned, thanks to people around her, like Shawn  (Sidebar, Cheryl was on NCIS New Orleans the past week, I was like KATY!!! )__________________

^ Her situation was tougher than her friends' situations, but she got through it with the help of the people around her.
   Parents keep their children protected from their hardships. When I was a little girl, I didn't know about my parents' struggles. Now that I'm older and more observant, I have become aware of what they have done for me.    ( She was? That's awesome! I only watch NCIS: Los Angeles...but if I can track it down, then I might watch her NCIS: New Orleans episode.   )__________________

^ I think, in her head, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
 Do you think Katy was ever going to tell Maya the truth about Kermit if Shawn hadn't spilled the beans for her?  Thanks. I'm going to track it down. ETA: If her character name was Jezebel, then it looks like it was an NCIS episode.  __________________

^ I think she would have told her when she was either a little bit older.
There are also two other scenarios where I can see Maya finding out the truth about her dad. Katy could have told Maya the truth if she saw that the story that she had told was taking Maya down a bad path.  Another way that I could have seen the truth coming out is if Katy and Maya were arguing and it accidentally got out.  Now I know which episode to watch.  __________________

Katy wouldn't have known to tell her, it's one of those things where you've held a secret for so long you that you can't say, because it's been that long, and in the mean time it just gets longer and longer and then you don't dare...

^ That's true. Katy made the decision to tell Maya that story about Kermit's departure, and she had stuck by that story for so long. She didn't see the need to set the story straight when she didn't have to.
