I really hope we can have a civil discussion where we can see the FLAWS in what April did without having fans get upset over it...

I love April, but I'm okay with pointing out her faults if I think she did something wrong...which I strongly believe she did.

Just caught up with the thread and its been really interesting reading everyone's POV. I know the topic is a bit heavy and things can get touchy but we should all recognize that we are all Japril fans and just because we don't like the behavior of one character or another doesn't mean we're judging or condemning them. People disagree and their own life experiences form how they view things so what might be obvious to us isn't necessarily so for the next person so it's important that we respect one another. Declaring the thread one way or another doesn't really do any good and tends to breed more conflict but that's just my two cents. Any way let me get off my soap box and give my two cents.

This seems more and more likely but I really hope they don't go that way or do the NDE for that. I agree that it's the easy way out. Everything she was saying was true and his words confirmed her worst fears. Jackson does love her despite her faith. I think it's something he's accepted goes with the package of loving April but it's not something he's happy about. And I get that line of thinking because it was a major source of conflict in their relationship and ultimately the one thing that Matthew had over him. I also understand why that would hurt April because she feels like he's humoring her regarding something she feels goes to the core of who she is.

It does seem like whenever Jackson and April speak about religion it's as a source of conflict in their relationship. I would love to see her talk to him about what it means in all other aspects of her life because I don't think that's something that Jackson's been exposed to. Not like she's trying to convert him but her explaining what religion and faith means to her which would also give some insight into her character. Because so fair to Jackson, April's faith has been an obstacle that he has to overcome in order to be with her but to April it's a way of life. Of course that would require Jackson to stop avoiding the topic and for April to be a little less defensive about her views and that would be a miracle.

ETA: Love the title and it's always been fitting with these two. Also while we should be able to have conversations admitting April's flaws we should also be able to see where's she's coming from. Both are totally valid opinions.

As for the Japril debate, sorry, I'm sticking my personal opinion that April was in the wrong here. I hated how she acted in the whole episode. And while I respect other views, I just don't think I can be swayed in putting the blame on Jackson, at all...in THIS particular case.

I think she approached the entire thing wrong but her feelings were valid. April came at this ready to fight about, not discuss their differences. And she escalated it to a level that it didn't need to go to. It does seem like they set it up wrong because this fight felt out of no where instead of something finally bubbling to the top. One scene with the deaf parents aren't enough to correlate it to Japril's situation and having April saying so explicitly does not make it so. We should have had instances in other episodes of April trying to bring this topic up and Jackson pushing it aside to justify the anger and intensity that April has during this whole thing.
