ّI think he pointed out he felt like he was not doing anything much creative so I believe he wanted to leave.

I saw him in different movies. He is a good actor. He doesn't need Greys to stay famous.

I almost always fall into nostalgia when I look at old episodes with Derek and Meredith.

It was still a semi- romantic lead in a big movie. He did well.

Patrick seems to enjoy the corny chick flicks, and that's okay. I personally loved him in Flypaper and wouldn't mind seeing him in something like that again. It was a nice change. He could do anything he wanted, but it sounds like he's more interested in being behind the scenes now than in front of them.

What matters is he's happy, and he wasn't happy or challenged on Grey's anymore. He's much happier now; you can tell.

I think a true challenge is pretty hard because it was always clear from Ellen interviews she enjoyed the stable life pattern she leads with GA as the pay is high and work hours can be adjusted every now and then. However , I can relate to Patrick but something must have happened between him and Shonda that lead to such a breakdown.

I always love Patrick as Derek, thougH I haven't been up to date as to what he's doing right now.
I stumbled on a filming pic of him recently. Though I have no idea what kind of project thatwas.

I really like that he is not forgotten like other characters who were on the show and now dead.

I think his role was too big for that

Ellen definitely loves the flexiable (at times) hours, steady work and great pay. Especially with three small kids... I think everything was coming to head with Patrick. He was famously racing in his free time. Which seemed to be more and more becoming his love, more than Grey's which he was sticking around for the pay. And then at home, he was having some personal issues with his wife that almost ended his marriage. I think ABC and even Shondra finally had a enough of it was got fed up. and finally it was decided to deal with it...

I do think the show wisely hasn't forgotten him, but still time moves on. I miss Derek.

I still have this dream that in the series finale, we'll find out it's all been a dream and Derek has been in a long coma and he wakes up, and reunites with his family and Meredith.

Like the dream season in "Dallas" with Patrick Duffy under the shower.
