because it is television and somehow writers (or maybe prodcuers) think the fans need and/or want that - no matter what show you watch.

Not on every show. Criminal Minds doesn't have any of that mess. Neither does SVU. Dick Wolf wants this franchise to go on as long as SVU but unless it at least halves the personal messes and focuses, I can't see it, tbh.

There's nothing wrong with focus. I like most of the couples, but they don't need to be getting huge dramatic stories every season.
