It's true for sure. A lot of people don't consider depression illness. For them it's just weakness. They have no idea how serious depression can get.

Have they revealed any back story on him? Like family, wife, kids etc.

Nothing revealed so far. He's pretty much a mystery man. :)

He has a daughter, right? When he tried to give his phone away to Goodwin we learnt that.

I don't know why, but I think that he will be divorced or he will have kid without being married. Not sure why, but I kind of think that he is not happily married.

I'd like to hear more about his depression. But even if we don't get a specific arc for him, he's always interesting. He's just so good with the patients.
