There is a set of old paparazzi photos, taken either during her OC fame or not long afterwards, showing Mischa in tears in a car. Then there was a set showing her in tears at the SXSW festival in 2010 (I think?). The haunting 2016 photos of her on a night-out, when she was clearly not in a good place, and then the disgraceful set of photos (which are fortunately not seen very often) showing her inside the Psychiatric ward at Cedar's Sinai hospital in 2009, are all examples of this. Her description of this in her Harper's Bazaar essay, of "having all of these publications laughing at my pain," clearly indicates the horrific impact that this kind of press treatment had upon her.

Princess Diana also fell victim to this, in the most disgusting way possible, during that notorious night in Paris 25 years ago. The French paparazzi who had chased her car through the streets, causing the crash in the Alma Tunnel, called for help. But only after they had taken photos of her lying badly injured in the car............ These, to the horror of her 2 sons, eventually appeared, years later, in a French magazine. Prince Harry's hatred of the paparazzi, which has occasionally caused him to lash out at them, and William's determination to protect Catherine from them during their early relationship, are very easy to understand after that.

I have just come across this documentary on Youtube, describing the effects of childhood - even babyhood - fame upon Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Their experience, on the Full House set, has eerie similarities to Mischa's description of how she was treated on the OC set, especially the way that their mother was treated as an annoyance as she tried to protect them. One of the former crew from Full House even admits, on camera, that "it was just easier for us if the parents weren't around." Their on-set babysitter was also employed by the studio, not their parents, so the implication is that child protection rules were not always followed if they got in the way of production demands....

It is also stated that child actors could be worked too hard, even to the point of suffering stress as a result. This matches Mischa's description of her time on the OC set almost exactly.

OMG, Mary Kate and Ashley. What was done to them was terrifying. No wonder they're basically recluses now.

I was thinking of those exact pictures of Mischa in the car. It was really gross.

Diana It will always break my heart that they TOOK PICTURES OF HER DYING instead of HELPING her!

The comment from the Full Housecrew member about it being easier if the Olsen Twins' parents weren't around may provide the explanation for the Page Six attack last year describing Mischa's mom as "annoying," and for Mischa's statement in her Harper's Bazaar essay that:

"I was told by many individuals that I wouldn't be able to keep working if my mother remained on my team, which led to more complicated dynamics with my family over the years."

To me, it now seems that these individuals, whoever they were, really wanted Mischa to get rid of Nuala so that she couldn't intervene to protect Mischa within the industry. If this was the case, then no wonder she felt unprotected on set.

They were only interested in exploiting her, not looking out for wellbeing in any way.

That's a double-edged blade, I'm sure. Because obviously, Nuala did NOT always have Mischa's best interests at heart. But without her, she was a teenage girl isolated on that set.

Ugh, all the layers of how this entire thing worked against Mischa are so upsetting.

That poor girl basically had nowhere to turn. No one was fully on her side, and to the extent her mother DIDN'T want her to get exploited, Mischa was made to feel like that was a bad thing.

Bit by bit, it is coming out....

ICarly, One Tree Hill, Buffy/Angel, The OC, and Skins, are all mentioned in this article.

http://https://www.buzzfeed.com/kell...out-toxic-sets

Skins being included is a real shock, as it was not a US show, but a UK one, shown on Channel 4 and E4. This now proves that the bullying, harassment and lack of support for young actors on the sets of teen TV shows is going on on both sides of the Atlantic. This now begs the question, just how widespread is this scandal within the TV industry?

This looks like the first time that Mischa's account of her being bullied, harassed, and neglected on The OC set has been taken seriously in the media, and by being openly compared to what happened to other young actors on other shows. This surely boosts her credibility on the issue.

Lord. Trina was called Aunt Jemima. What a mess.

It IS validating to see Mischa's story get the weight it deserves, along better-known examples like Boy Meets World, OTH, and Buffy.
