It really is

Another interesting development.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, whose background and career most closely resembles Mischa's, in that they are both from Manhattan's Upper East Side, started acting as children, both went to the Professional Children's School (for the same reason - bullying at their previous schools after their acting careers were exposed), both played roles on All My Children, both moved from New York to L.A. and were unused to Hollywood's 'ways' as a result, and both were suddenly propelled to fame by smash-hit TV shows, has just given a new interview in The New York Times where she says this: "And then there’s the other side of being a young girl in the business. Growing up in New York, I had a little bit of street sense going into it, which is helpful. But no, it was not easy. And I’ve had my fair share of experiences, I have just chosen not — I don’t win by telling my stories, emotionally, for me. I look at people that tell their stories, and I’m so impressed. But in this world where people get torn apart, and victim blaming and shaming, I just keep my stories in here." https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/16/m...o-revenge.html As in her tweet last year, when she essentially backed-up Charisma Carpenter's account of how Joss Whedon behaved on the Buffy set without getting into it, Sarah is clearly hinting that she received some bad treatment in the business, but doesn't want to risk being attacked over it. Mischa's Harper's Bazaar article contained an almost identical statement, where she had the same fear, but decided to speak-out anyway. |
Very interesting, because I do see some of Mischa in that response. Joss was infamously horrible to work for. Obviously what happened to Charisma was shocking, but he also wasn't even allowed to be alone with Michelle T (which is...interesting given that I live forever with the scars of that song James Marsters wrote for her WHY WAS THAT SET SO FULL OF CREEPS). And he and Sarah had their ups and downs, with it going mostly downhill. I'm sad she doesn't feel comfortable sharing. Can't blame her, but I'm sad.
Hopefully SMG feels comfortable enough to share one day
Michelle Trachtenberg's allegation about Joss Whedon is loaded with question marks, as the potential reasons for such a rule to be in place on the Buffy set take Whedon's behaviour to darker territory than bullying.... Much darker.
Yes, I think Joss is more than a bully :/ In some of the stories, he sounds like a predator.
Yeah, he really does
And really, while James Marsters is obviously a creep, what right did Joss have to get physical with him? Totally inappropriate. And Joss is so pathetic, because you didn't see him doing that to David even if David was openly critical of him. Why? Because David could put him through a wall.
Definitely not, not James' fault that the character was popular with the fanbase.
James and Sarah were the two loudest people on the planet protesting Spuffy, lol. I hardly see how the fandom obsession is their fault for doing their jobs as scripted.
It really isn't
They had good chemistry. I will never say they didn't. I didn't like them because in practice, the storyline felt debasing. But I'm 0% surprised fans fell for it, I can't blame them, and Joss should not blame James, he should blame himself. He won't, lol, but he should.
No real surprise that he won't blame himself
The massive ego on showrunners is really annoying. LMAO. Like, calm yourselves.
It really is, lol
