I can seriously get uninvested in an entire show if I feel it's getting swallowed by a show-long triangle. Let me tell you, I peaced out of The Vampire Diaries so fast.

I have no idea what even HAPPENED past early in the second season when I realized this **** was never going to stop (and for me, that was especially bad because Damon is the exact kind of character who does not appeal to me AT ALL, lol). I just stopped watching, stopped caring, became totally uninvested in the show. It's a protective skill of mine in fandom, I think. LOL. I will just leave.

Interestingly, I didn't get that way about OTH, I think because I could tell Mark was not actually invested in BL.

And I DIDN'T watch as closely in S2, I will say. But I came back towards the end, and then came into S3, and immediately it was like "Oh, he doesn't actually want to do this pairing at all, he's just trying to prove a point that actors don't control him." So I knew the end was coming at SOME point, and would not be all that far off.

Honestly, a lot of S3 wasn't needed. They could have fizzled out fast, just like they did in early S4. It's not like S3 was written SO well and it was SUCH a perfect exit out of the story, lol.

True, but you could have easily justified a break up after the events of that episode.

Same, but I think it would have been a bit of a cop out for the fans not to date after S2

Yeah, and in high school you definitely CAN date someone for a few months even discovering you have nothing in common. It's high school. LOL.

I once kept dating a guy in high school because I was like "Eh, what else am I going to do." Thank the Lord I grew out of that one.
