And while I think it turned around at the end, not enough attention was paid to the fact that Julie preyed on him. Legally, she raped him.

That frustrates me. No, it's still an adult preying on a minor. Luke for all his bravado had a TON of vulnerability and she exploited it.

And I think MARISSA realized that at the end, that it was really all Julie's fault, but it still wasn't explicit enough in the writing.

And Ryan, to his credit, was not THRILLED with Luke but clearly understood Julie was the bigger problem early on. Marissa was a teenager - I did not expect her to immediately understand the full ramifications of statutory rape. That's the problem with no semi-responsible adult finding out.
