Also how uncool he was about Marissa's sexuality. Couldn't he have referenced her as bisexual? Honestly, the IDEA of a Johnny obstacle might have been more interesting if they'd placed a female character there instead. Not the bully, lol, she looked older than Ben, but someone.

Josh didn't want people to care about Marissa, he wanted them to only care how Ryan felt. So he put the exact opposite of any kind of effort into casting or writing Johnny.

And that's where it starts to feel kind of deliberate - I'm pretty sure he wasn't happy that Marissa and Volchok got more attention and a better response than Ryan and Sadie.

Even on his beloved TWoP, Marissa and Volchok got more commentary and several people admitted Mischa and Cam had more chemistry.

But still. Why not write her as bisexual? Marissa struck me as an open person. I think she very clearly could continue to be attracted to both men and women.
