Compilation of news and rumors so far:

Rickey from Rickey.org:
We love Kelly Clarkson! Her third album will be released May 8, 2007.
Quote:
ETalk Daily:

"Speaking of Since U Been Gone, nothing will top this years release of Kelly Clarkson's 3rd disk. She's been on the rise since her debut, selling 3 million copies and an astounding 11 million with the next. Look for that album to outshadow all others when it hits shelves in early 07."
News From David Kahn, producer of the album:
Quote:
Hi. We're just moving along through tons of songs. The songs are great, and Kelly is singing perfectly. It's a very
aggressive and powerful group of songs and performances,
and Kelly is doing things I've never heard her do before.
Watt played great on the album; he's got hands of steel,
and a perfect point of view and approach. He's a joy to
work with.

Hope the final result meets your expectations. Kelly is
trying to do something special and meaningful, and I
think she's achieving it beyond her own dreams.

cheers,
david

****

David confirmed he produced cd versions of 'Maybe', 'Anymore' and 'Yeah', plus many more songs. Tracklisting is far from being confirmed though. That's all I could get out of him

****

David said he still doesn't know when the album will come out but he loves every song and says the writing is great!

****

no single in mind. just trying to get everything right, in the most musical and emotional sense possible. Kelly is working to make sure she has the best performances she's ever given, (and she has met that goal, in my opinion), and that her songs are all they can be.It's more a process of meaning and expression and excellence, without thinking about the marketplace. That's one of the things that makes me respect Kelly so much - she only thinks and talks about what the songs mean, and whether she's getting across what she feels. She's one of the best listeners I've ever worked with. To be a great performer, you have to be a great listener. She is both.

****

A little birdy told me that RCA is having meetings right now concerning Kelly's upcoming single

Mike Watt Guests on Kelly Clarkson Record
"Political Song for Kelly Clarkson to Sing"

Former Minuteman, current Stooge, and all-around inspiring guy Mike Watt's most recent recording gig made us smile so much that we just had to share it. (And so did that picture!)

Watt tells us that over the past two weeks, he spent a couple of days in the studio laying down bass tracks for Kelly Clarkson's new album. (That would be the follow-up to 2004's Breakaway--the one with "Since U Been Gone" on it.) He did such a good job of explaining it himself in the emails he sent to Pitchfork that we'll just let him do what he does best and spiel:

"The producer/engineer David Kahne is an old friend, and that's why I was asked aboard, though the guitarist and co-songwriter, Jimmy Messer, knew all about my history and was very enthusiastic; he's a great cat. Actually, it was pretty interesting. I didn't [know] what to expect, but [Kahne] had me trying all kinds of tripping stuff. Altogether, I played on six [songs]. They were already recorded, and I was replacing and adding in bass.

"Everyone there gave me much respect even with me being nervous, big time at first. I knew nothing of Kelly Clarkson before this but can tell you, in my opinion, that she can sing her ass off. Man, she's got pipes and goes for it. She also didn't have any airs or a big posse of sycophants and was just plain up-front people, which to me is very happening 'cause I ain't so used to all the fronting that can go [on] in some scenes.

"It was a challenge too 'cause it was much different than where I've been with music, but different is good, especially when what the people involved wanted was to hear someone working a bass like they meant it, and that's where I've always tried to come from.

"When [Clarkson] had to bail, she said to [Kahne], 'I think the old punk guy idea's a good one,' and we all laughed. It's just studio stuff, and I haven't been asked to be in any band for a gig or tour.

"I got lots going with the Stooges. Iggy called me just a little bit ago and said the album sounds great. Wow, I can't wait to hear it." Neither can we.

Watt is keeping busy with a ton of touring, including three weeks with his Mike Watt and the Missingmen trio supporting Red Hot Chili Peppers in Europe, four shows with the Stooges, and a handful of sets with Dos and Banyan. He's calling it the "Parallel Universes" tour.

And this is new and was on a newspaper's website and I loved it. Laughed reading it too. I guess we're not the only ones craving new Kelly music

Dear Kelly Clarkson
A plea to come back since u been gone
ROB BECK | 1.10.2007

DEAR KELLY:

I’m writing to you today because I recently noticed that something is missing from my life. I knew it was something a little bit pop, a little bit rock; something perky yet empowering, with mainstream appeal yet only truly loved by the gays. But exactly what it is eluded me for days.

Then, as I was driving to lunch and your “Walk Away” came on the radio, it dawned on me. Kelly, I am desperately in need of a new album from you.

It’s been far too long since that fateful day in 2004 when I snuck into Target and bought "Breakaway," careful to sandwich it between a pack of razors and a bottle of laundry detergent so no one could see what I was really there to buy.

You see, Kelly, before you broke away and into my heart, I was ashamed of my love for pop music. I would steal a listen here and there, then later vehemently deny any knowledge that songs such as “E-mail My Heart” and “Lucky” existed.

I was only able to procure a copy of Britney’s debut CD by making my brother buy it for me for my 16th birthday. I told my friends that I did it solely to enjoy his embarrassment in the checkout line.

For most of my life, I was afraid of the friends I would lose if I came clean. Ms. Clarkson, you changed all that. Sure, Britney was there first, but you packed not only the pop sensibility that made it so easy to sing along with you, but the budding cred of a could-be rock star to carry over to a wider audience.

Before you, I would only listen to the likes of Britney with the windows up, completely out of anyone else's earshot. Then you came along, and suddenly I was proudly rolling my car along crowded streets with windows down, screaming at the top of my lungs about spreading my wings and getting, getting what I wanted.

THERE WAS NO turning back. Thanks to "Breakaway," I felt safe exploring other pop princesses. If not for you, I would never have downloaded songs like “Pieces of Me” and then actually owned up to it. The winner of American Idol turned out to be pretty awesome, so why not the younger sister of a once moderately successful, functionally retarded pop starlet?

Neither Simpson could ever hope to measure up to you, but Ashlee’s debut single served a greater purpose. It brought my best friend Nate and I closer together when we rewrote the song as a fictional lament of the STDs resulting from all the “Penis in Me”:

“On Monday, I am itching/

On Tuesday, I am oozing/

And by Wednesday, I can’t pee…”

My friendship with Nate is based on that spoof, and we have you to thank.

KELLY, I ALSO HAVE you to thank for my love of dance remixes. There was a time when I fancied myself a purist and would only listen to original versions of songs. Then I heard the Jason Nevins Club Mix of “Since U Been Gone,” and my world was changed.

The original was already a source of celebratory empowerment in the wake of a bad breakup, but when I heard those words over a pulsing beat and overly synthesized effects, I knew that not only was I moving on, but I was so moving on.

Now, thanks to the floodgates opened by that mix, my iTunes’ Purchased Music list is gayer than Clay Aiken’s webcam.

In closing, Kelly, just know that I miss you. Aside from that photo of you looking supremely uncomfortable to be in Congressman Mark Foley’s presence and your skin transformation a la Proactiv, I haven’t seen or heard of you in the past few months.

Please, come back to us soon, sans pedophile and zits, with another great album in tow. Because, girl, since you been gone, we haven’t been getting what we want.

Yours,

Rob Beck

Irvine is actually a place. It's in California...Kelly's had quite a few concerts there.

If I remember correctly, in an article, she said that song is about "the lowest point" in her life.

Great little article/letter right there. A man owning up to his love for Kelly and her music. I love it.

And I'm with him. It's about time for Kelly to come back.

I can't wait for the new album, but I am a little disappointed to read that it won't come out until May, 8 (If that's even right) because I remember talks of it being released in February, which I know doesn't seem possible because we would have already heard a single by now, and seen some new pics, but I am getting ansy for some new Kelly Tracks, Cd, tour, etc etc!!!

There is no official release date yet so any release date printed in articles is basically just a rumor

Some more news from David Kahn. Nothing much new but he does say "MUSIC SOON"

Quote:
I don't know when the album is going to come out, but I'm
sure it'll be pretty soon. We're still working on it to get it perfect. I can tell you that it's an amazing album, as amazing as she is. Her song writing is exceptional, and she's grown to a whole new level. And she's such a sweet person!

Music soon...

>cheers,
>david
