Somehow I do think it might be a ballad since it's something special and usually her ballads are pretty special
but I also sense that she's going for a new kind of sound she hasn't done before...

I don't get the impression of a ballad. It makes me question if she's now entering a different genre of music again. But it also is hard to tell is she talking about the writing, the genre, the way she's sung it, the music, something else?

perhaps the writing style is different, perhaps more of a story like Taylor does?
Or more like the Broken & Beautiful song? Though again that wouldn't be something new

Plus Kelly supported her with the whole Scooter Braun there to suggest re-record her own songs and they have met on The Voice now (and probably earlier this year the Billboard awards as well)

I would love for her msucic to turn into a bit more rock as well!
She did say it was a combination of Meaning of Life, Breakaway and Stronger
Not that they were very rock but they used the guitar a lot more in Breakaway and Stronger so I wouldn't mind that on her new album either!
