SP Board Rules & Spoiler Policy - Please Read and Respond ~ updated 02-5-2009

The expanded Scott Patterson Board Rules

- Don't descend to the level of personal attacks - that is against FF and board rules and will result in a warning at least.

- Always be respectful of other people's opinions and beliefs. You have good reasons for holding your opinions, but so do other people. Basically, treat others as you want to be treated: You want your opinions to be considered on their merits and in a civilized manner, so do the same for other posters.

- Don't forget that there's no reason for things to get personal. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they personally dislike you. You can attack ideas without attacking people; criticize a post without extending your criticism to the poster her/himself.

- If you have a problem with another poster, or you're getting the feeling that another poster is personally hostile to you, please keep it private. PM the other poster to work things out. If you think that won't do it, PM one of the mods. If, once you've taken it to the mods, you find that the problem hasn't been adequately resolved, PM a Mod Manager. Long story short, never publicly post personal grievances - if you're concerned about something, PM the poster, a mod, or a Mod Manager.

Fan Forum's rules about spoilers:
Quote:

• No spoilers about any new or current television shows are allowed on the television show forums, and they should only be posted on the Spoilers Forum. Information is considered to be a spoiler if it details something that has not yet been broadcast anywhere in the world. Promos that have already aired are not considered spoilers.
• Do not post any unauthorized direct script excerpts on the Spoilers Forum.
• Do not link to other Spoiler message boards.
• Spoilers are allowed on the Male and Female Celebrity Forums as long as the spoilers are limited to information about the character that the actor or actress is playing on the television show that they’re on, and they’re not about the overall show. Spoilers on these forums should only be posted to discuss the upcoming work of the actor or actress, and they must be posted in separate topics and be clearly identified with the word Spoiler in the title.
• Spoiler threads for upcoming movies are permitted on the Movies forum or on forums that are devoted to a movie franchise, as long as they're clearly identified with the word Spoiler in the title. Spoilers should not be discussed on the general threads on these forums.
Promos aired on The CW are not spoilers. promo pictures from upcoming episodes and inside info posted on the spoiler board are. The TV Guide blurb about each episode is usually posted in the episode discussion thread on the day the episode airs, along with the episode title. Both are spoilers until then. In general, casting information isn't a spoiler but any details of the character's role in upcoming episodes should be kept on the spoiler board.

Please don't react to new spoilers posted on this board. Any  :yay: or  will be edited out.

We also have the spoiler tags. Please only use them in discussion about a recently aired episode that not everybody may have seen yet. Also promos can be discussed this way. Promos aren't officially spoilers, but there are a lot of fans that don't watch the promos.

Spoiler:

This is how you do the spoiler tag: [sp*]your text here[/sp] just remove the *

If you have any questions or comments, post them in this thread or PM one of the moderators.

Avatars:
Images from
  • Movie trailers or posters
  • Promos that are shown on TV
  • Character promo shots
Are allowed to be used in avatars because these are general wide-spread promotions for the movie and the television show.
Images from
  • Sneak peak or extended promos and clips on the Internet
  • Episode stills
  • Any filming pictures
Are not allowed to be used in avatars because they reveal a lot more information and are considered to be spoilerish.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We'll be revising the Spoiler part of the Official Rules to reflect this, and we plan to say the following there:

Avatars
• Avatars made from promos that have already aired on television or shown at the movie theatre are not considered to be spoilers.
• Avatars made from pictures of clips, sneak peaks, extended promos, episode stills and filming pictures should not be used until after the episode airs or until the movie is released, because avatars can be seen all over Fan Forum, and we want to respect the wishes of members that don’t want to see any spoilers for an upcoming episode.

Thanks everyone. :)

Please respond so that we know you read this policy. A simple 'read' will do.

If you want to be extra nitpicky, you might change "The WB" to "CW" - or, since that does not officially start until September, just make a note to change it when the time comes.
