Oh, that's great that the movie has had such a great responce!

PJ_Believer did make more of these I'm Reed Fish icons. I PMd her the other day, asking if she could post there on the avatar/icon thread here on this board again. Hopefully she'll do that soon.

I'm tantalizing you.

I found out last-second last night that Alexis was going to be on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. I convinced LD to stay up late and watch it with me and we rewarded in a big way. They actually talked about the movie! AND showed a clip! It was totally crazy. Pretty much unbelievable. Very very cool. If someone ever posts it on YouTube (hint hint Alexis fans), I'll link to it here so you can watch it.

Plans for the premiere are shaping up. I talked to Shiri last night and she said she will be there. As will Alexis, Jay, Schuyler and probably other people/actors (I just don't have confirmation on who else really will be there.) Plus my mom* will be there. And LD*. And my cousin Jeff*. And Kacey* and Vu*. And Christy. And Madeleine*.

I will admit that I'm getting pretty excited.

NOTE: names with an * next to them denote friends/family flying out from California specifically for the premiere. These people are great and deserve special thanks from me. (Christy would have an * next to her name, but she already lives in New York. But she probably deserves something else special next to her name because she's letting us stay with her for 5 nights. Just to be clear, she is also great and deserves a special thanks
I am so estatic that Alexis will be there as well as some of the cast!! I can't wait for Tribeca this weekend!

I will take tons of photos and fill you all in on the details!

Love,
Erin

Did you guys see the clips they showed on WB11 news and on Conan O'Brien? I thought it looked really good. And I thought Alexis and Jay did a great job in that scene.

Erin posted this over at the Shiri board.

From the Tribeca website:

Quote:
I'm Reed Fish
Reed Fish may only be in his early 20's, but he's one of the most important personalities in the small town of Mud Meadows. Having inherited his father's radio show, the entire community listens to and calls in to Reed's show every morning, whether it's to discuss the continuing problems of hedge overgrowth or disseminate a traffic alert concerning a local with a flat tire. Reed's life seems perfect: he's well-liked with a comfortable future laid out in front of him, and he's engaged to the prettiest girl in town. But such perfection is in the eye of the beholder, and the arrival of an old friend forces Reed to rethink everything he knows and decide how to balance his heart's true desires with the expectations of the entire town. I'm Reed Fish is a different kind of coming-of-age story featuring a clever, sweet, and slightly narrative-bending script by none other than Reed Fish. No, not the real Reed Fish of the title, but a screenwriter name Reed Fish writing something that is not his autobiography. Confused? There's no need to be. Utilizing a unique narrative structure, director Zackary Adler helps the audience navigate the cinematic Reed's life. The film stars a plethora of up-and-coming young talent, including Jay Baruchel (Undeclared) in the title role, Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls) as Reed's old friend, Victor Rasuk (Raising Victor Vargas), DJ Qualls (Hustle & Flow), and Shiri Appleby (Roswell), and it also features neat comic turns by Katy Sagal and Chris Parnell.

I'm glad you liked it. And now I'm gonna bombard you with questions if you don't mind. Did everyone else seem to like it too? What did the cast, and especially Alexis say during the Q&A? What did she say when you met her outside that after party?

And btw, was Alexis at the party with Maggie Grace? 'Cause there have been a few pics of them together at some events, and I thought that they might be friends?

Alexis didn't talk much during the Q&A mostly it was Jay in the cast who took the questions. Everyone loved the movie and thought it was wonderful!

Alexis was at the after party for a while but stayed outside being it was crowded. So when I saw her outside at the end of the night that is when I asked her for the photo. Good thing I did becasue it looked like they were about to leave. I asked her if she would mind taking a picture with me and she said sure. She was very nice about it. So that is hiw I got my photo.

Maggie Grace did not show up at the party with Alexis. Maggie came later on with her friend who was involved in the production. I think her friend was part of the crew. Maggie mostly hung out with her friend for most of the night. The only time I saw her with Alexis was on the red carpet in the press box before the movie.

Maggie and her friend were very nice and are sweethearts.

Hope that answers your questions. Over all it was a wonderul weekend.

Glad you liked the photos.

Love,
Erin

A coming-of-age story with some particularly sweet moments that follows on the heels of 2004’s eminently quirky 'Napoleon Dynamite.'

Whereas “Napoleon” was purely about the process of growing up, “Reed Fish” is all about relationships.

Particularly, making that one big relationship decision, the dreaded “M” word. Aka getting hitched.

Fish (Jay Baruchel) has inherited his father’s radio station and has followed in his footsteps as ombudsman, confidante and eternal open ear in the town of Mud Meadows. But he has been so busy keeping the town in tune with the crop reports that his own life is passing him by.

He finds himself on the threshold of a lifetime commitment and he needs a confidante of his own. But will anybody listen?

The naming of the town comes early in the film and casts a sarcastic hue on a story that turns out to be anything but. Shot in rural California, the scenery look amazingly like the Idaho setting of “Dynamite” and that is probably the intent.

The hook for the teenage fans is there. This is a town where everyone listens and the resulting exchange of personal values turns out to a real life Oprah Winfrey show.

Or perhaps Dr. Phil, if you count the volunteered advice from the populace.

Jay Baruchel’s performance in the lead will not set the world on fire like the irrepressible Jon Heder did as Dynamite, but he will light up hearts as he sorts out his feelings for all to see in front of the camera.

Fish is engaged to Kate (Alexis Bledel--'Sin City,' 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants') who, in the words of his pal and radio producer Frank (Victor Rasuk--'Raising Victor Vargas') is “the whole package.”

Kate is smart, sincere and her dad owns the local car dealership. The combination of the town’s only radio station and the only car dealership would seem to be a match made in country heaven, especially for two teenagers.

Most kids would do the deed and start buying Porsches. But Fish’s old flame, Jill (Schuyler Fisk--'Orange County') returns from her college experience in Austin Texas and proceeds to lay down a country come-on as sweet as Tupelo honey. When she spontaneously takes the stage at the local bar and turns out to have the voice of Emmylou Harris, Fish has to make some hard decisions fast.

In the resulting chaos the youngsters are in way over their heads and Fish ends up making decisions more far reaching and radical than he ever imagined.

Directing all this is first timer Zackary Adler who handles himself and others with taste and finesse.

The film is strictly chronological with no fancy storytelling tricks to get in the way.

The actors are very much themselves, except that they manage to seem even younger than their years. This should resonate with teenagers everywhere, but may be of limited interest outside that age bracket.

But even if only teenagers see the film it will have justified its existence over the sadly over-exploited horror genre that seems to be the only alternative for kids.

Excellent quirky and multi-dimensional supporting roles by an ensemble cast of young talent who also act about ten years younger than their actual ages.

There are only two significant adult roles in the film and they are placed well out of the action.

The message is that life belongs to the young and they have to figure out the twists and turns all by themselves. If lacking in edginess this film makes up for it in some of the clearest articulation to date of the decisions of a lifetime.

Maybe that’s the problem, the articulation is too clear. Sometimes it reads more like a self-help book than the unvarnished story of a teenager’s jagged learning curve.

2006 Tribeca FF MPAA rating PG 13

Thanks for bringing that over, Yvonne. That's a pretty good review. Not great, but OK. I'm looking forward to reviews that have more to say about Alexis and Jay.

So, yeah, all-in-all, Tribeca was fabulous. The premiere was amszing, as I have mentioned, and all the other screenings went really well, as well. The question I've been getting the most is "when can I see the movie in my town/country?" And the answer is: I don't know. We're talking with people right now. And as always, I'll announce it on here just as soon as I know any information that I can make public. I wish I had details to share right now, but I don't.
Hopefully we'll get info on that soon.
