It will be on in about 7 hours where I am! I can't wait to see it. I tried to be unspoiled for the finale, but of course that didn't work. Now I just can't wait to see it play out on screen.

Ok, I'll be bold and speak the truth: I thought this episode sucked. It was built up so much and then it just didn't make sense. In fact, it made more sense in theory than it did the way it was really done. Rory's decision would have made more sense if she hadn't had that part with Lorelai in the car when she realizes what she did and when she's cheerful in the house. That was funny, but in order to make the plot at all realistic she needed to be completely preoccupied with thoughts of doubt and failure. I hate Logan. Mrs. Kim was totally out of character and that really pissed me off. Emily and Richard didn't make sense either. I mean, I know they always pick Rory over Lorelai, but their decision was just dumb. Rory's not that persuasive. Her argument for dropping out of college was moronic. Most college students have no idea what they're doing. Lorelai was the only character that was doing anything correctly. And I'm not even talking about the proposal. That actually made me angry. It seemed like a last ditch effort at making tonight's episode into a real season finale, cliff-hanger and all. The episode was just so blah and that's sad because ASP is usually so good at the finale. Last year's was the greatest ever. So much happened in that one. It was all logical. Even though Rory did something crazy then it all made sense. Tonight's just made me angry.

I will have to respectfully disagree, because one thing I know/feel is that this was the saddest GG finale to date, with the most serious ramifications going into next season. That being said, many things did not make sense, but it made enough sense to have my soul feel drained and my heart spent at the end of the hour. So much in fact, that Lorelai's proposal did little to leaven the weight of the sadness abound between Lorelai and Rory, Lorelai and R&E, Rory and her future.

See I actually thought the complete opposite of all your thoughts. I thought this episode was awesome. I was quite spoiled and still loved it. I loved the band scenes. I wasn't looking forward to them, but when they showed them I loved the parallel between Lane/Mrs. Kim and Rory/Lorelai. I thought it was kind of neat.
I thought everyone reacted as they should have. Rory has just had her whole life shaken, and now she doesn't know what to do. As she said Mitchum is THE MAN when it comes to newspapers. Now I think there was something else behind the whole "you don't have it" speach, but I can see where she would get upset. She thinks she needs time off, so let her do it. It is right what Richard and Emily said, there would be no convincing her. She probably would have moved in with Logan or her father. As for Logan, I LOVE LOGAN!!! OMG, he is such a wonderful boyfriend, telling her he wanted everything to be in the open and waiting for her outside of her room. He is just great and I think HE will be the reason she goes back to Yale (yes I think she will go back). The proposal was cute. I think she realized how much she loved Luke while he was ranting about Rory. She realized he was more like a dad to Rory than her real dad, so she decided that she wanted to marry him. Anyway I thought it was a GREAT episode and can't wait to see how it is all played out next season, especially the whole Rory and Yale thing. __________________

This is the first episode of GG I have watched in a long time. I was actually not annoyed at Rory as much as I was earlier in the season which I take as a good sign. I like this storyline with her dropping out of Yale. I think it's interesting. I was so confused though. She stole a yacht?
More comments when I've fully processed the episode. __________________

i like the episode but i hated the way that lorelia acted like a victim and she isn't even paying for yale and i thought she came up as a bit self-centered talking about thier plans she needs to realize that rory is not 16 anymore and it's rory's life not hers. frankly i don't know what's the big deal is about rory taking some time of and i think it's better than for her to go to school and fail her classes because she's not really into it
i loved rory and logan but i sensed a break up and it might be about the fact that it seems that rory isn't even going to tell him that she going to drop out of yale |

I agree, it's not a big deal Rory wants to take time off. I agree with her, she is going to be a junior, and it's time to start thinking about what she really wants to do. If this would have happened last year it wouldn't have been a big deal to just still go to school but not know what she wants to do. In most cases, by the time you are a junior you need to know or you are wasting your time. It would be a waste of money if she was taking classes without a major at this point in her college education. __________________

I liked the episode. And for the first time in awhile I liked Rory. She's oing off autopilot and actually thinking about what she wants to do and be. People are treating her like a human being rather than some little perfect goddess to be worshipped and coddled.
Lorelai unfortunately is confusing the issue by constantly using the word "drop out." Which she isn't. She used that term with the grandparents to get their attention and support. But probably even Luke would start to ask what the big deal is if Rory took a semester or two off and then went back. __________________

i thought as the finale the episode was a bit slow and disappointing. nothing that happened was that huge. I didn't hate lorelai, but i think she's overreacting to rory taking time off too. like rory said, lots of people do it. Although its sad they are apart now, because im sure lorelai didnt mean, either go to school or dont come back.
i love logan and the RL scenes but they were so less. This episode wasnt that great, but it was a good lead up to the events of season 6 i think. |

I agree that the ep was kind of disappointing, but then again this whole season has been so that probably was expected. Now that I've thought about it more, I do really love what they're doing with Rory's character, probably for the first time since season 3. She's had her whole life planned out since she was a little kid and just almost obsessively sticking to the plan, probably not really thinking about it. Sure, she decided to go to Yale instead of Harvard, but that was not a big deal because she was still going to an ivy league school and doing the journalism and whatever. But this whole thing made her realize that maybe what she wanted when she was younger isn't what she wants or needs now because people change and people make different decisions. It's good that she's finally questioning these plans. Lorelai kind of annoyed me, but I could see where she was coming from, too. This will probably cause an interesting rift between the two although that's kind of what last year's finale did too.
