First off if you're using AOL trying closing that down and try to use Internet Explorer and save the picture. If you were already using Internet Explorer or if it didn't work try going up to Tools on the toolbar >> Internet Options and then try to delete your temporary internet files. It should then be able to save it as the desired file type. You can also try having someone e-mail the picture file to you. You can also try this but be aware it doesn't always work on all computers. Try right clicking on the picture you want to save and then select "E-mail picture as...". Then a little screen will pop up titled "Sending Pictures Via E-mail" and it'll ask you if you want to make the picture smaller or keep the original size. Select the one to keep the original size and then click ok. Then another screen will pop up asking you to select a profile. Just select Outlook even if you don't use Outlook regularly. Then an outlook window for an e-mail will pop up with the whole "To..., From..., Cc..." and all that good stuff. Hopefully you'll see that under the Attachment section there's a tile of the picture file you want to save. You should be able to right click the picture tile and save it as the desired file type. Beware though that it doesn't work on all computers. Thanks to HamiltonsEyes How to run Windows in safe mode Restart you computer. As the computer restarts, press the key F8. Thanks Vicki! The previous thread was started over 3 years ago, so I didn't want to assume all those sites were still up and running.

TFTNT!
And as it is, a question- my old/mom's new (it's about 4 years old) Prestigio smartphone (PAP3500duo) while used with care and all suddenly is having a slightly buldged/swollen battery. Mom said it slipped off a chair few days back and toppled on the floor and the casings popped open and then she sorta discovered back case had trouble fitting back on with same ease it was before. And it sorta started switching off after minimal use (she has it for a game and no sim cards inside since it was malfunctioning on software before as I as I was using it and no service had it fixed) Lately it had been discharging fast and screen became rather iffy (it has Home button like working on itself, not even touching it nor with wet or greasy fingers). About charging I suppose the charger or cable has some issue or the usb plot on the phone had issue with its usb cable, I dunno, but for other phones I've borrowed the wall contact. I think cable became off-ish. However we charged it with samsung wall charger and the phone seemed fine. Just now the battery wont fit inside flat and back case is harder to put on. Though yesterday it discharged overnight it gained 6% power and stays instead of drooping the moment it gets on. Been over the internet where folks claim different ideas from throwing that battery away to just charging it full cycle. Note that I once faced this very issue with my old Nokia 3500c whose battery also got swollen and guy at the shop, if I remember right, said to replace it or something. I will take this with me as I'm about to go by, but still I would appreciate if anyone would enlighten me about what could be the reason and how to prevent my and mom's and other's phone batteries from buldging. The swell might be nothing big, though u can feel it by touch and see that it's more curved than it should. I am currently using Galaxy S5 and charge it a lot and it does discharge fast, however I am worried now because this one is my only option of a phone as I cannot buy new one (thid I won lottery) and mom using a used item so I worry what if any of those get swollen too. I'd like to read opinions and, if any, experiences of what is going on and how to avoid. P.s. read that laptop and any lithium-ion battery has such possibility of an issue... Anyway, thanks in advance! __________________

Batteries do have a shelf life, and can leak with age, so maybe it's just that?

I'm sorry to read that you're experiencing these problems.
It can be caused by manufacturing defects or how old the battery is. You need to be careful as using a swollen battery can be dangerous If I were you, I wouldn't use the phone because any swelling and leakage on a battery is bad and I can imagine that charging up the phone won't solve anything. Perhaps somebody could lend you a phone to use temporarily? It needs to be taken to a phone repair shop where they have equipment to handle swollen batteries as it is difficult otherwise. Good luck! __________________

I would definitely take it to the repair shop too and buy a new battery (if you don't want to buy a new phone). Batteries do have a shelf life and recharging them all the time can deplete their life.

Thank you guys!
Indeed I went to shop and asked a guy about it. He looked at it and said it would be best to get a new one if I want to use the phone. He couldn't tell what the problem might be but that it can happen. Probs battery itself was poorly made or from age. Internet searches told me it's common stuff. Especially among laptops. Their batteries can swell by huge sizes from gas build ups by overcharging. I know that mom had it's battery draining real fast and even before, when it was mine, it drained rather quick. Maybe because I constantly, for about a year, had it hooked up to plug because there was an open wifi in kitchen our neighbors left accessible, and I used to spent hours upon hours on the net fot that time. And yes, I read that smartphones weren't any Nokia 3310 with near limitless stand-by time, indeed smartphones are supposed to be draining batteries so much faster. But I did kill usb cable, it kept reconnecting by smallest touch. When I got my S5 I gave this to mom, and bought another one for other number. But eventually had to bring this one to repair for repeated switch-off problem and touchscreen mis-reactions. So in the end the screen kept failing a lot (doing stuff on itself) and I kinda gave up since warranty soon expired. Anyway, we both changed our plans and operators and got on contracts (I was kindly explained how much money I may save up on internet if I gave up two pre-paid numbers) so mom got my back-up phone as a replacement (Galaxy B5510) and I gave up my other Galaxy S5 (won 2 pieces in a lottery) and went on with this one. However mom's item technically was the same as Prestigio and it meant either standard apps plus only one other app or no extra apps. And mom really needed a game or two alongside viber app. So Prestigio went as a game buddy (hard to play any game on a blackberry kinda screen) but now looks like I will be trying to install a game and hope samsung gets better at memory stuff and put my Prestigio buddy to R.I.P. Even dolphin sticker on it looks sad But those were good 4 years for a bugdet smartphone from less popular manufacturer. And hadn't it fell we still would be in the dark until something would happen. I even checked my GS5 and mom's B5510 batteries- thankfully still thin, mine's looked really thin and since S5 is really thin device I'll keep my eye open if that back case suddeny gets bulgded. I really recharge it like gazillion times a day if I am at mom's place and not alway go through full cycle. However I'll be more paying attention since I don't want that "third time's a charm" thing actually happen. Sorry for a paragraph, just couldn't stop my fingers from typing (and I don't use extra language autocorrect stuff, I proudly type each letter by myself, not intuitive text option ) Anyway, have a great time! __________________

You're welcome and don't be sorry for the paragraph. I enjoyed reading it, being nosey
Some batteries are poorly made but from what you have said it does seem like you have used the power in the battery an awful lot. Hope that you can replace it soon! Some time ago, my iphone 5 stopped working. Wouldn't even come on. Found out that it was a couple of faults inside the phone that were no fault of my own. I upgraded soon after. These things do happen. Don't worry __________________

My iPad sometimes charges easily to 100% and then even when I don't use it (meaning it's on stand by mode), when I open it, it's charged down to 92%. WiFi is turned off, GPS too, all my apps are closed so I figure it's either the battery or the charger. Sometimes electrical sockets are the cause too. I read somewhere that you have to drain the battery of your gadgets at least once a month and do a soft reboot. It keeps the battery life from draining easily.
As for laptop batteries, I don't use mine that often except when I go out for client calls and I need to do a presentation. Most of the time, I'm plugged in and I take out the battery when I don't use it. __________________

Oh how I wish to fix my laptop (if thats even possible) I was so happy for the prospect of having my first laptop (of course it was given to me by my cousin, I'd probs wouldn't be able to buy a thing with my salary). But then it just died.
Still dunno what it was but got couple error messages and after endless tries it still doesn't work.. even plugged it in without battery which was new to me. Such a blast! :@ __________________
