I took this photo yesterday. I was going to change the birds' water and was waiting for the pigeon to move away from it. He sauntered away after a moment and didn't seem fazed at all with me being close by. Then he went and sat down on one of the borders, and I fetched my camera. I edged closer and closer until I was able to get a few close-up shots, zooming in as usual, and no flash. I couldn't believe I could get that close, and he didn't bat an eyelid! I didn't even need to crop this photo.

Yesterday I was in bed and a noise woke me. I thought, oh no, I hope a bird hasn't flown into the window. So I looked and this young wood pigeon was standing on my window siill. He looked OK from what I could see, so I carefully took some photos with one hand while moving the net curtain with the other hand.
I took these photos without flash as usual, and was happy when he flew off, because he was fine. I've included the first one I snapped where I was slowly moving the net curtain.
