Amy - camp already? I hope your son enjoys it. And you don't worry too much.

Mel - sounds like you had a really nice weekend with your family. Did you enjoy The Little Mermaid? Any updates on your car?

Norman - potato soup is good. I tried making it from scratch once, but decided I enjoyed the canned version more.

It's warming up here. Temperatures @ 30C/86F all week and not much humidity. Suits me just fine. I've got to get my brain into summer food mode. Last night everything I thought I fancied required the oven, and I didn't really want to turn it on and heat up the house. Wound up having a variety of salads, and that really hit the spot.

Norman - Yum. I love potato soup.

Chris - I really enjoyed the movie I want to see it again.

I received a text this morning that they are waiting for the additional parts to arrive and that as soon as they do they will let me know and get the car worked back into repairs. So we shall see. Hoping the parts arrive soon.

Salads in the summer are always good

It has been pretty hot here.

Back to work today

Mel - Mexican food is delish!! I hope the parts get here soon so you'll be one step closer to getting your car back. Sorry about having to go back to work today. The first day back after a Holiday is usually not much fun. Hope it goes well for you!

Chris - Yes camp already! Public school was released last Thursday. It's not a long camp so I will be picking him up tomorrow. And yes it has been super nerve wracking for me In the summer I generally use my instapot and crockpot a lot for meals because it doesn't heat up the house. Maybe some of the recipes you were going to make in the over could be adapted for one of those appliances. Or maybe try a toaster oven? I don't think that would heat stuff up as much a regular oven either.

Nice cool salads for dinner sounds amazing for a warm summer day.

Norman - glad you enjoyed your soup.

I am trying to get some stuff done around the house today. Chores tend to be never ending

Amy, I rent the plot of land from the town council. I have to grow vegetables on at least 60% of it. I'm allowed to plant flowers on the rest of it if I want to. I plant mostly vegetables. I harvested a Little Gem lettuce today for my mum.

I hope your son enjoys camp, Amy.

I love potato soup too. I like to have cheese in it.

I hope the parts arrive soon, Mel.

Mel - hope your first day back to work went well. Fingers crossed that your car is fixed in the next couple of days. Once you're used to having your own transportation, it's hard to rely on others.

Amy - yes, I'll have to pull my crockpot out. It's just a different way of cooking since I have to get things organized early in the day.

Julie - does somebody come out and verify what you're growing? Do you always get assigned the same allotment?

That's great, Norman.

Chris, the allotments are checked about once a month. If a plot is neglected you get a warning and a chance to work on the plot. If that doesn't happen it gets taken away and given to the next person on the waiting list. The waiting list is so long that some of the allotments had to be cut in half before my turn came. My half an allotment is big enough though.

I always have the same allotment. I keep it as long as I pay £20 per year. That is very cheap for an allotment. Water is included. There are a few hoses attached to taps for the gardeners to use.

Thanks Amy. Mexican food is my favorite. It has been a couple of long first days back.

Hope you had a productive day!

Thanks Julie Very interesting about the allotments. Pretty cool.

Norman - Yum. Love those.

Thanks Chris. I hope so too. It sure is.

I’ve had a couple of busy long days at work.

Julie - thanks for explaining how the allotment works. Sounds like a terrific programme for people who don't have space for gardening at their residences. the yearly rate sounds quite reasonable.

Mel - get through today, then it's Friday and you'll have a weekend to recuperate.

I forgot to water my hanging baskets yesterday and they were all droopy this morning. They've started to perk up now.

Went to the store this morning and got a great deal on some ground beef. I see tacos in my future for supper tonight or tomorrow.

Julie - that sounds amazing! I wish we had something like that around here. Thinking about ripping up part of my yard to create a garden sounds exhausting. And I agree with Chris - $20 a year including water is really economical. No wonder there is a long waiting list.

Mel - Sorry things have been so crazy for you at work. I hope they calm down soon.

Chris - That is awesome that you were able to get a good deal on meat. It is always so expensive. Tacos sound amazing. I might have to put that down for dinner one night this week. I already have dinner for tonight and tomorrow planned but maybe for Saturday.

Someone had given me a cute little succulent in a tiny pot. I was really enjoying the fact that it was still alive because I usually have a brown thumb. I went to water it and realized that one of the cats ate my succulent and now it's gone

Chris - Yes, I can’t wait!

Yay for a good deal. Tacos sound delicious.

Amy - Thank you

Oh no!

Amy - yikes about your plant. Did your cat get an upset stomach from eating it?

Mel - yes, the tacos were good, thanks.

My one niece is separating from her husband and looking for a house in town. Hubby went with her yesterday to look at some places. While most of them looked okay, he thought they were beyond her means. She's thinking that she'd rather find a place she loves and won't have to uproot the children again, but I think she's realizing that she needs to lower her expectations.

Tacos are great, although they always break when I eat them so I end up eating minced beef with my hands.

I hope your niece finds a suitable house, Chris.

I'm sorry about your succulent, Amy. I love succulents, I have a few of them. If you don't want to rip up part of your yard to create a garden, you can grow some veg and flowers in large pots. You can even grow some trees in pots.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Last weekend was hot here. Now it is cold.

It’s hot here.

Happy weekend all.

ETA on my car is the 13th so only another week without a car it looks like.

Chris - I hope she’s able to find a house she likes within her means. Tough situation.
