me too, it used to be rachel on friends but now it makes all sense to me that brooke is the Best and that's funny coz i didn't like her that much the first time i saw her on oth but now for me brooke IS oth

I saw on the last thread someone saying why everyone make a big deal about OTH doing 200 episodes because shows like friends, BH 90210, 7th heaven and others did, i think we just can't compare a show like OTH with a show like friends, FRIENDS was awesome from the beginning til the end and yes when they stop i did want a 11 th season but i know it was better to end the show when it 's a huge hit (it's still today) and 7th heaven, it's totally a different situation, they were supposed to end at 10 but cw want them to continue and it didn't worked out, bh 90210 wasn't neither in a good situation but it wasn't that bad
so it's not about quantity but quality, if the show is still good , you can do every season that you want but if it comes that even fans are pissed off that the show continues, think about it twice, we didn't know if 7x22 would be the last and did you see the audience? even gossip girl beat them and gg episode wasn't that special, so how it would be for the very last episode knowing that glee will be on the same time ? OTH has to end, sophia knows it, we know it

* As much as i love "Friends", the last two seasons weren't as good as the others but that was still awesome, moreover it was asitcom, you can do way more with shows like that than with dramas.

* 7th heaven shouldn't even have seen the light.

* About OTH/Brooke, as much as the show is hated right now, i'm not ashamed to say that i'm still passionnate by it. Mark knowing it is the LAST season (at least for Brooke), i'm confident it will give her her dream. He've been playing with the "family" card since s5 with Brooke: first Brooke wanting a baby/getting Angie/Taking care of Sam/Sterility, it is a constant in Brooke's life, i'm pretty sure the day 8x22 rolls on our screen, Brooke will have her kid (baby/Sam whatever).

He just loves putting his charatcers through struggle, Nathan had to wait 6 years before entering the NBA and i wanna say that it was perfect because how boring would that have been seeing Nate all happy in his career sooner in the show.

Just my opinion of course.

you're right about nathan's storyline and i'm sure in the end brooke will finally get the baby she wanted and like you as a fan, i will never regret to watch the show, it still one of my favorites but i hate how it has been treated so badly, i'm sure mark knows it's the end but i don't know, it's like he was in denial or something and he just won't admit it til the end
and you were right too about the comparisons, we can't compare a drama or technically a teen drama with a sitcom, it's totally different about friends i'm not saying it was all perfect but there wasn't a really bad season that could have put the show in danger but through the years,it had a great quality that we don't find in a lot of sitcoms anymore, 7th heaven had to end too but let's just say it was a big mess

mark doesn't seem to understand that 8 seasons for a show like oth is like 10 or a show like ER, these days lot o shows don't even get through the 5 seasons so he can be grateful that he has 8 seasons

I think Mark gets it, everyone just remember him mentionning the "200 episodes" part but no one remembers the line about not overstaying its welcome! Well i can already see people posting that the show already had overstayed its welcome and it's their opinion but still Mark knows he has to stop at a point, he said so himself.

About "Friends"/Sictom it's very handled differently, i don't know if "Friends" fans noticed but every episode had 3 different storylines involving a part of the cast with each other or with guest stars, the other part of the cast was there in the backround supporting the other characters with a storyline that episode. Something like that would never ever work on a drama, specially because a drama has arcs, "Friends" had like 80% of stand alone episode.

yeah i think is really typical from sitcoms but i noticed there are way less main characters than on a drama, they don't have the need to always bring new people , they at least become recurring for a season max, in a drama ,it seems that you always had to bring new characters for new storylines, the thing is that sometimes they are so centered on the newbies that they forget the main characters and i'm not only talking about OTH

Yeah all drama shows do it: OTH/GG/BH 90210/The OC/Dawson's creek and i probably forgot to mention some but bottom line is: they all do that.

I don't see how people think One Tree Hill overstayed its welcome, so Mark Schwahn likes to do over the top storylines like Psycho Derek, Nanny Carrie, Brooke's attacker, Psycho Katie.

Maybe Mark's favorite type of storyline are psychos.

I have no problem with Mark enjoying writing over-exaggerated, melodramatic story lines -- my problem is that he takes it WAY TOO SERIOUSLY, IMO. He thinks he's being so ~honest, and ~real, and that people are relating to his ~journeys and it's ridiculous...at least own up to the fact that some of the story lines are absolutely ridiculous, and most twenty-somethings wouldn't be in a lot of these kinds of situations that are portrayed on the show. /end rant.
