Such a shame that we have to start again with this. Sigh!

Do you still have the vid snippets, Kat?

It is! But it's presented me with the opportunity (boot up the bum) to make long-intended improvements. I have all the vid snippets uploaded in various places, but I think I'll re-do them so they're all the same size.

improvements? it was perfect. buuut, i look forward to seeing the edited intro.

the last video related thing i saw from delta was the message they posted on the main site. and she was ever cute in that. she had her obligations to attend to, yet she took the time to record that and talk about twao etcetc.

Aww. Far from it. But thanks for saying so, Eves. I'll give this intro a new edge.

Oh, yes. I think it was one of the last links I posted on the old News thread. Here it is again for those who missed it: Delta's latest video message. It was extremely cute and such a sweet gesture for to make despite her ever-hectic schedule! Gotta love how comfy she looks in the Big W staff room.

I know that you wanted to redo the intro, Kat, but I wanted to post here that I've managed to rescue the original (minus the links to the clips). Since this thread was always your baby, feel free to do whatever you like with it!

What better time to open a video discussion thread than the day of the world exclusive "Out Of The Blue" video debut? I thought it might be worthwile, particularly to posters outside of Australia and the UK, to learn more about Delta's videos. I thought the best way to do that was to compile a videography. I included some stats you might find to be of interest, as well as the odd snippet from production articles, and quotes from Delta on what makes the songs and concepts meaningful to her.

---

The Delta Goodrem Videography
I Don't Care
Release Date: Early 2001
Location: Wisemen's Ferry, Sydney, Australia
Director: Anthony Rose

"No Regrets! It was probably one of the best things to have happened. It forced me to go, "Right, what am I going to do now?" On my wall I had a chart where I'd written "I Don't Care" at number one. I looked at it and thought "Why didn't it happen?" I did a lot of soul-searching." - Delta

Born To Try
Release Date: October, 2002
Location: Helsinki, Finland
Director: Miikka Lommi

"I didn't specifically decide that I wanted to do the clip in Finland but from all the video clips stories I read, it was a clip I liked. However the director was in Finland so, instead of flying the whole crew to Australia, they just flew me over there. It was really exciting." - Delta

Lost Without You
Release Date: February, 2003
Location: Rockhampton, London, UK
Director: Katie Bell

"In my first clip, it looks like me a bit...I mean I love it, but I just wanted my second video clip to show more of who I really am. In my film clips, I need some laughing but I need the serious side of me aswell - because there is a very serious side to me when it comes to my music. The second video is a little looser. It shows me playing the piano and stuff, me a little more relaxed. I'm really happy about how it shows another step. "The video director went and did a whole new clip after meeting me and seeing me perform. It was awesome. I had a clip I was happy with! I was like ‘Send all the other ideas back, I'm not doing them!'" - Delta

Innocent Eyes
Release Date: June, 2003
Location: Intercontinental Hotel, Sydney, Australia
Director: Michael Gracey

"The song Innocent Eyes was a real baby for me. I wanted it to hit the top for me and Vince. It's hard when you put the film clip in other people's hands. It's hard because I know I'm marketed like a pop-star, but I know how much I do behind the scenes. Those are my songs and it can be so wrenching when people tamper with them because they've have to market them. It's like "What are you doing?" It's got my name on it. I'm the one who has to stand up there so I've got make sure it's OK". - Delta

Not Me, Not I
Release Date: 15th September, 2003
Location: Newtown, Sydney, Australia
Director: Michael Spiccia

-visually evokes the emotion of lost love.
A combination of sets, locations and visual effects were used to create the fairytale world in which the video is set. Whilst the various elements of the scenery were designed so as not to detract from Delta Goodrem's performance, elements such as the old crumbling house, the overgrown garden and the surreal pond create a strong backdrop. - From SMPTE.org

"If I try and dodge the subject of honesty when I'm writing a song, it never works. Honesty is s massive thing to put into songs. If you're honest with yourself and then put it into a song...Some people like writing poems, some people like writing. I always start with a piano piece and I had this piece of music for such a long time, I ended up writing this whole piece of music, and then something happened so I went back to it. I really felt the need to complete the video before I started more treatment. Not Me, Not I is one of my favourite tracks on the album and I'm just so happy I was well enough to film the video." - Delta

A Year Ago Today
Release Date: October 13th, 2003 (on DVD)
Location: Undisclosed
Director: Fabrizio Lipari

"This is a very special track to me. It's dedicated to my Aunty Sandra, who was such a wonderful influence in my life. It's also about a very close friend's mum's passing." - Delta

Out Of The Blue
Release date: October 1st, 2004
Location: Malibu/Lebec, California, USA
Director: Nigel Dick

Nigel took a step away from his usual concept oriented videos and instead decided to create a visual stunning artistic piece that centres on Delta's beauty and wonderful, wide open and free spirit. The video for her new single "Out Of The Blue" was shot both on the beach and in the forest with a very intimate and enchanting feel to the performance and camera movements. - From mvwire.com

Mistaken Identity
Release Date: December, 2004
Location: Fox Studios, Sydney, Australia
Director: Michael Spiccia

"Mistaken Identity was on of the first tracks written for the album. It was like a no brainer - that's going to be the title of the album because this is such a defining moment...and the lyrics are my favourite on the album...it's one of my [most] favourite songs that I've written". - Delta

Almost Here (Duet with Brian McFadden)
Release Date: December, 2004
Location: London, UK
Director: Martin Weisz

"All that did it for me was that I heard this song and I kept thinking, I really feel these lyrics. I didn't think about doing a duet for my album...I fell in love with the song and thought he [Brian] had such a great voice that I just wanted to be a part of it...I think when you're going through a relationship break-up...it's like the perfect break-up song". - Delta

A Little Too Late
Release Date: May, 2005
Location: Point Piper, Sydney, Australia
Director: Anthony Rose

"It's a really uplifting track. A lot of other songs are quite intense and quite dramatic so I really needed a song that said, 'I'm singing, do do do-do...' When we were recording it we were all just shrugging our shoulders and having fun'. - Delta

Lost Without You - US Video
Release date: August, 2005
Location: California, USA
Director:

Awww, yay! It is indeed my baby. Thanks so much for recovering it, Rach! It's a godsend. I definitely want to make some long overdue alterations, but having the original template makes things a whole lot easier.

I found the the Intro thread intro at the same place, but couldn't access the Vid thread info for some strange reason. I'm impressed and relieved that you were able to get it! No sign of the FAQs or Fan experiences as far as I can see. But something is better than nothing. Thanks for your help!

I was thinking about this recently..how awesome would a Predictable video have been? I'm envisioning Delta setting things on fire & pulling bitch faces like there's no tomorrow. Missed opportunities..

Delta as a PMSd pyromaniac, eh? I like it! Yes, I was always rather disappointed that we missed out on a proper video for Predictable too. I always hoped it would be released and had great expectations for the vid concept. I wonder if she always envisaged the Visualise boots and red dress get-up as something that she might have worn in the video, had she made one! Or perhaps she didn't have time to think about it back then with her madder than mad schedule and it was among the ideas clouding her thoughts during hospital stays (like she says on the DVD).

I know, I was so sad that the FAQ thread wasn't there, though it doesn't seem to have been updated for a long time so the most recent Fan Experiences in the thread would be missing still, which is sad.

I had to do a little work on it, it had a lot of random characters inserted but some search/replace on the source code fixed that

I still haven't turned the downstairs computer on since the crash, so there's still some hope I might be able to recover something from our cache!

Yep. Maybe she wouldn't have released it in the first place if she hadn't gotten sick at that point. I think even she knows when it's time to stop in terms of having too much Delta on the music scene, you know? But in the same token IE was such a success, maybe she planned for it all along hence them going along with it accordingly. One to ask her one day!

I don't think she'd have gone the Visualise get-up [she was more nice-girl back then ] I think she could have pulled it off though and it would have been a real move forward for her in terms of the balladesque good girl we knew her as which I guess she's still known as.

Yay! NMNI is about the prettiest [Delta] video there is, and of course I love this song more than any of them [so no bias whatsoever ] You could see the heart and soul she put into it cos she knew she'd it'd be the last one for a looong while cos of her cancer & all that.

You're so lucky to be discovering her at a time when there is such a big back catalogue. We saw them as each were released so it was squee-worthy..but rather limited compared to say, how you're able to watch them all and be in Delta overload.

Awww sweet! You didn't know? I thought most websites [particularly her sony / columbia one] would have mentioned it. Well, to cut a long story short, in 2003 she burst onto the scene..everyone was going bananas over her [so basically she was the hottest thing to hit our scene since forever.] She was pushing herself doing bucketloads of promo for each single [instores, tv apps..flying everywhere] and then she found out that she had cancer of the lymph nodes. So she had to stop everything and concentrate on chemo. She was out of the scene from mid 03 to about about oct 04. That was all very abrupt, I mean, one day she's on the tv almost every day then she drops off to go and concentrate on getting her health back. Of course we wanted the best for her but it was very weird. There was definitely a huge outpouring of support for her in the media and from the fans..it was actually a phenomenal time to sit back and watch how people handled it esp. since her fan base is so varied from the littlies to adults.

Surely there is a more detailed account of what happened to her, but basically that's what happened to her. Obviously she is in [or is it out of? can you be out of it?] remission now.

NMNI was the last video she got to shoot before she started chemo, and that effectively ended the Innocent Eyes promo run she was on that year. Obviously this is why she had the short hair in the OOTB video.

Have you heard the song Extraordinary Day? That's about the day she found out she had cancer. Mistaken Identity sort of alludes to it ["the girl in the chair with the long golden hair..well that used to be me"]
