Delta Goodrem to play Grizabella in Sydney, Hobart & Melbourne!

The Producers of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS announced the incredible and exciting news that DELTA GOODREM is performing with the all-Australian cast when the acclaimed West End revival production of CATS tours Australia from October this year. Delta is confirmed to play the coveted role of Grizabella in Sydney, Hobart & Melbourne and will sing Memory, one of the most well-known songs of all time.

Delta Goodrem said: “I am so excited to be making my musical theatre debut as Grizabella in CATS, one of the most iconic roles. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s work is extraordinary and his music speaks to people all around the world. I am so honoured to have the opportunity to share Andrew’s music and Grizabella with a whole new generation of Australian audiences. I grew up admiring Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ musicals, so it is with great honour I am getting to join the CATS’ legacy”.

This much-loved record-breaking musical opens in Sydney on 30 October and is then touring to Hobart, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide finishing in Perth in April 2016.

just reading that little description kinda makes me think of Delta as she can be vulnerable but she's also a survivor. Then people like to throw stones & be cruel to her at least while watching The Voice

As I said in the news thread thought the role is pretty small. I think she lurks on the edge of the stage a couple of times. She comes on before they start singing "Grizabella: The Glamour Cat" which is why they sing that song as they're telling you about this cat who'd come on stage & the older ones were avoiding & holding the younger ones away from. I don't think she stays on stage for the whole song even. She comes back later & sings parts of that song herself While the other cats hide/avoid her & that's the end of the first act (almost there's a solo dance after it). Then she comes back towards the end of the second act & sings "Memory" & is still on stage for the next song while they're all deciding they like her now

The song "Memory":

~~the fully white cat who touches her hand at the end of that song is my favourite cat~~

Still great she's in it, even if her role is small.

I still can't decide if I want to go or not. Its quite a bit of money to spend on the ticket when there's a chance I won't even get to see her as I can't guarantee she'll be in every show :look:

It would be a shame if you bought a ticket and then find out she won't be there :nod:

Exactly :look: & since I'd probably go to a afternoon show over an evening one since I'd be going by bus it worries me more she wouldn't be there. I love Cats but I've also already seen it live so I can't really use that as a reason to justify going as well

If you enjoy Cats then you would probably enjoy seeing it again regardless of if you get to see Delta in it. However I do understand how disappointing it would be to spend all that money and then not get to see her :hug:.

Looks like Delta started rehearsals, and I think she confirmed which shows she'll be in.

I haven't seen exact shows she'll be in but did see the tweets about her being at rehearsals

She replied to fans that bought tickets and said 'see you there' so I took that as confirmation.

ah ok,I think I've seen some of those but didn't pay attention to dates
